The virus is mutating and getting weaker, but more contagious. On top of that the mask stuff is a damn joke. Herd immunity and vaccines will end this (until something else comes along), not a mask.

When people talk about things like perhaps cutting deaths in half with actual compliance I think it underscores that they aren’t going to make this disappear but they can contribute to moving the needle.
I feel like we have a lot of posters that refuse to do anything that isn’t proven a foolproof cure for the situation. Helps but isn’t perfect? Hard pass from a lot of people.

There was always going to be a second wave said to hit around the flu season. More people are getting it because, like the flu and other viruses, it has mutated slightly. Now more kids are getting it where as earlier they were not.
People are simply tired of having their freedoms and liberties stolen from them and are getting out the house and resuming a normal life.
All of this is why you are seeing a rise in cases.
