I haven't used it but the new S&W shield EZ, in either 380 or 9mm is made for new gunners.

Lighter to rack slide
Assisted loading on a mag
Etc.

Looks like a great option.

You can find ammo. Just have to look hard. 9mm is easier than 380

Got my wife a 380 ez about a year ago and she absolutely loves it. It also makes a good concealed option. Light recoil and everything about it is tailored for women. Really a great gun all around and shoots well.

It's a .38 Smith with 4 inch barrel.
These are quite different (in a good way) from the snub-nosed .38 revolvers.

Even better if you can find some wadcutter ammo to start her with. In fact, wadcutters aren't terrible for defensive purposes (because there really aren't many great ammo options in a .38.)

All that said, keep an eye out for a good used Glock 19 or M&P 9/Shield. Lots more ammo options that have a better track record for self-defense use.

Most important is that she stay aware of what's going on around her at all times - and have a gun with her that she knows how to shoot.

Yes. I was going to give her one of mine. My dad has a couple and said she can have on of his.

It's a .38 Smith with 4 inch barrel. Going to go next weekend I think and ride four wheelers and bring the kids to shoot. Might even camp out in my converted cargo trailer. Stars are beautiful when there is no light pollution.

My wife has one of these. She got it from her father who got it from the Baton Rouge Police Department.

I got us a S&W M&P 9mm shield for CC, but she likes the 38 better.

My wife settled on Glock 26. Smaller of the 9mm Glocks.
