Will be in Chicago this weekend and only have Friday night reserved. Girl and goat
Any recommendations for Saturday night? Not a traditional steakhouse if possible

Last time I was there I went to Purple Pig and Sepia. Had fantastic meals at both.
Besides Girl & the Goat, that same restaurant group also owns Duck Duck Goat, and Little Goat Diner. Both of which I enjoyed on earlier visits.

Smyth/ The Loyalist
Smyth/ The Loyalist

Quick hitters:
- Lardon for best charcuterie in Chicago. Go next door to Union (same hospitality group) after a board and cocktail.
- Loyalist, which also has one of the best burgers in the city. My wife thinks it's the best. It's a casual-upscale tavern under Smyth, which offers a tasting menu. I'd opt for The Loyalist for sake of flexibility and a livelier atmosphere.
- Cabra for a view and another Stephanie Izard experience. Duck, Duck Goat is another good Izard option, too.
- If you want to explore Bucktown / Wicker Park, try getting a brunch or dinner reservation at etta. They opened other locations in Scottsdale, LA and in the process of Miami, but Bucktown location still stands out as the best.
- La Scarola is, in my opinion, best Italian in the city
- Offset is the best BBQ in Chicago currently. You aren't far from Logan Square, either, if you want to hit cocktail bars and breweries.
- Galit is fantastic, but a tasting menu and I doubt you'd get a table this close to the weekend.
- Au Cheval gets all the talk from visitors, but check out Bad Apple, Little Bad Wolf, or Mott St. for a burger.
- I don't go into River North much, but Tzuco is my favorite modern Mexican restaurant in the city. Aesthetics might play a role in that - interior is beautiful. Menu is super creative.
- Was going to mention Kasama, as it may be the most popular restaurant in the city right now, but they're closed for the rest of this week / weekend.
- Milly's Pizza in the Pan is better than Pequod's or anything else this city has to offer in the way of deep dish or pan pizza. Be there. Otherwise, check out a place like Phil's or John's Ristorante for an old-school tavern experience.
- Chef's Special Cocktail Bar is a super cool space. Dimly lit, a bit old school and a modern take on Chinese dishes. For something more classic, can't go wrong with Phoenix or Triple Crown in Chinatown.
If none of these catch your eye, I can rattle off far more spots, but this is a start. Also, I put together a pretty massive list for someone in April, I think. You could probably find it with a TD search.

Second for La Scarola. One of my favorites.

Been a year or two but if you are not willing to venture out from the city Le Colonial is an upscale Vietnamese place that is quite unique.

Ming Hin cuisine for dim sum. They have several locations around the metro area.

I’ve been to quite a few restaurants in Chicago.
Monteverde. One of the best meals I’ve had in the world.
And I’ll second Le Colonial.

I am going to a conference next week in Chicago and just got invited to a chef's table at Girl and Goat - is this going to be an amazing experience?

I'd assume you're speaking to the chef's counter for 2 and not the downstairs private space for 20+ people, correct? Wife and I have sat at the chef's counter a couple times. It's fun watching the line of chefs cook everything, and you may get a couple small plates of food if one of the chefs catches you gawking at what's being made, but I don't think either of us necessarily prefer this over having your own table in the dining room. That's personal preference, though.
Now, the private dining space downstairs is a very cool experience. Super intimate. Have only done it once for a smaller rehearsal dinner.

Ciccio Mio is really good.
Also will recommend Kumiko for a drink and a snack. Reservations are hard to come by

It will be a larger group dinner in the private space, I guess! Several people were invited so more than just 2.
