I have a Weber gas grill. Has anyone made good bbq with wood chips on one side and meat on the other?

Absolutely. I would argue you can make better BBQ in a gas grill.

Not so sure about that. I've made passable ribs and chicken on gas using a smoke tube but not as good as a stick burner or even a pellet grill. I wouldn't attempt brisket or pork shoulder.

If you use the gas grill get something like this. It puts out a little more smoke than the tubes. You can also light it from both ends if you need even more smoke.

There’s a millions options that are all good to go. I actually like charcoal with wood chips on my fuel grate.

I no longer have a gas grill, but for the years I did, this worked perfectly...

I've done it a few times. You won't get that thick smoke ring like you will from an offset smoker but it will have a light smoke flavor if you use one of those smoke tubes.
