I don't live or die over this stuff like you guys and I would rather have 3 stars who will work their arse off than 5 star prima donas. BUT in ya'll opinion how much will recruiting be helped or hurt by the result on Nov 3rd?

Less than this board thinks it does.

Unless we win.

Most will say that they don’t look at one game to decide and I think that is true to some extent except for this game and these recruits that are head to head. Kids today are so
Much “me first or what can you do for me now” that they only see what is and not what could be. The twitter sphere and other social media, TV contracts with conferences, etc has had a great impact in opening up more opportunities to today’s society for families to see their kids play that closeness to home really doesn’t matter. If they aren’t close, many are “moved”. Who pays for those Hawaiian kids to live in Alabama is another story.
If this is a close game, it bodes well for recruiting. If it is a win, look for a couple flips or commits coming.

Winning definitely wouldn't hurt but if we stay competitive in it whether we win or lose, finish 10-2 and earn a Big 6 bowl (Sugar likely), then that's a helluva season

I love this cliche'. I wish Saban and Bama felt the same way.

Winning doesn’t hurt but these big time recruits only care about who is paying more.

4% each year.

It seems that there is probably one recruit every year that chooses Bama over LSU. If we were winning this game then maybe they would be picking us instead.

Surtain last year. You think he picks Bama if we won 2 of the last 4 we played them?

In all actuality he picked Bama because Corey Raymond was interviewing with the dolphins. There’s valid speculation Saban worked behind the scenes. No clue if that’s true, but he 100% “flipped” him off Raymond interviewing elsewhere.

Only ALL of it.

Saban's rise to power can almost completely be contributed to LES MILES.

Had CLM won more games against Bama, with better game planning, we wouldn't have lost Louisiana talent to Bama. Believe it or not, most of their overall talent disparity with the rest of the country comes from Louisiana talent.

CEO wins this game, gets the bleeding to stop and shuts off the faucet and LSU reaps the benefits.

I don't know. Emery is all LSU, goes to a UGA game, falls in love and commits. Then he attends LSU's raping of Georgia and decommits with most saying he ends up at LSU.

Some kids are fickle. I don't know how much it matters but I don't buy that it's unimportant.

this is a recurring theme for us, and we need to learn how to counter it.

It is not a coincidence that Aranda, Raymond, etc. rumors (and truths) come out at the most inopportune time.

- some are just manufactured rumors, like Raymond to UF
- some are truths, like TAMU offering Aranda
- some are "manufactured truths", like friends of opponents' staff calling for "interview" with no intention of offering, like Raymond to Miami.

The best way to counter it is to beat them to the punch. Fight fire with fire and use friends in media, or just "connected", to float our own rumors.

Bet your bottom dollar that if Emery commits to us but is waiting to Feb, there will be rumors that E is going to move back to TE and that Robinson is getting fired.

There will be rumors again about Aranda and Raymond again. Strangely enough, Stingley will be the first to hear them.

No doubt, but take away Irv Smith, Buggs, and Moses off this team and how do they look?

Moses peaked in high school but he’s still a starting linebacker for them.

Yes. They paid him more than we were offering

There is an established narrative that if you want to be the best and win championships then you go to Bama. The only way to fight that narrative is for LSU to finally beat them. It matters at least somewhat for the recruitment of Louisiana kids that are torn between LSU and Bama.

are you serious? Saban is a great coach period. He was a great coach here and is a better coach there. Let’s not forget he had in Roads here from his days here. Damn.
He BEATS EVERYBODY DUMBASS. One has nothing to do with the other

Does that work for a kid whose dad made millions playing in the league for years?

Yep. Even though it didn't work, remember Saban told Devin White that if he chose LSU over Bama he would lose to them every year as a Tiger. Don't think there aren't mind games at play during the recruiting wars. Breaking Bama's mojo may not be a deciding factor, but it changes the narrative and it does make a difference to 17-18 year old kids.

To borrow from the old basketball narrative, we need to take the lid off the basket.
