LSU loses the tiebreaker to all of these teams below so if we all finish 13-17, LSU gets the 11 seed in SECt. If LSU loses we have the tiebreaker on Ole Miss so we’ll still be the 11 seed.

Need to win today and hope 11 SEC teams get into a regional because not only do all of these teams have a standings tiebreaker on us, they all have higher RPIs too. Yikes.

6 SEC host sites
7th team 13-17 USCe (lost today)
8th team 13-17 Bama (play Auburn later and reach 13 wins with W today)
9th team 13-17 Vandy (won today)
10th team 13-17 UF (up 9 runs currently on Georgia)
11th team 13-17 LSU (up 8 runs currently)

RPI:
Bama 17
USCe 22
Vandy 25
Florida 27
LSU 32

Yeah. Hoover might be more important than ever before. It could really help us jump some teams in RPI if we go on a run + some of these teams will have to go 0-1 Tuesday.

That grand slam by Tommy Tanks clinched a regional invitation for the Tigers no matter what happens in Hoover — book it

If Milazzo connects on that throw last weekend we could be alone in 7th place in the SEC by end of this game…. Talk about tight margins!

what needs to happen is frick all these at large bids from outside of the SEC like D1 putting team like RPI #80 Utah in the tourney and leaving out teams like LSU in their latest projection. The margins are too tight from 7th-11th in the SEC to leave out any while letting in another.

I agree. They are NOT going to leave a borderline LSU sitting at home.

LSU has played 5-6 games where they were in prime positions to win. Win just half of those and we are talking about our chances of hosting instead of making the tournament. When you play in the SEC the difference is that damn thin. Nothing you can do about it now. Just keep winning.

The 5-6 SEC teams that will roll into someone's region as a 2 seed will make a lot of host teams VERY uncomfortable.

The only thing I’m worried about is being tied with Bama, UF, and Vandy and losing head to head to all 3 and having a lower rpi than all 3. Hopefully the committee expands the invites to the SEC to 11 this season. Bama could do us a favor and lose this evening and stay at 12 reg season wins.

I agree, but it's happened before

and at 12-18 they’d still probably have a higher RPI than all the rest

It’s crazy how tight it is so hopefully being defending champs will be the difference maker and LSU is the last team in like Ole Miss was a couple years ago when they won it all.

Don’t know that any SEC team will be a regional 2 seed. You have 6 hosts and then 5 teams that will likely be 13-17 and eeking into regionals as a 3 seed. Bama has a RPI in the teens so if they finish with a win today then they should be a 2 seed. LSU should’ve won that series too

Miss State would be the opponent huh? If they win today same record and Georgia and have the head to head.

Ah Georgia will be a game back if they lose so it would be Georgia at #6

Yes they will. The SEC will have way more as 2 seeds than 3.

LSU may be a 3 seed, but I'd take a 3 seed in the Indiana St regional versus a 2 seed at UNC.

Excuse my ignorance, but while all of them might hold head to head tie breakers, how would the 3+ team tie breakers work out? While we might be 1-2 against all of them, are there any that have been swept by other teams that would bump up our head to head as a group?

All teams have played Tenn as the highest seeded common opponent and we have the worst record vs tenn.

You haven’t been around long have you. Nothing is guaranteed especially for a bubble team

Don't think this is true.
