Matt McMahon hires new strength coach, a Baton Rouge native

LSU men's basketball coach Matt McMahon announced Thursday the hiring of Baton Rouge native Mike Chatman as the Tigers' new strength and conditioning coach.
Chatman, a Southeastern Louisiana University graduate, served for the past five seasons as the sports performance coach for the Stanford men's basketball program.
Chatman has also worked in the athletic programs at Texas, Michigan, Penn State, Southern Miss and Towson after getting his start as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Southern University.
He's also worked for legendary Baton Rouge weightlifting coach Gayle Hatch after leaving Southern.

If he trained under Gayle Hatch he is more than qualified. His disciples are all over the country.

He may be the son of former LSU linebacker Ricky Chatman but I'm not sure.

He isn’t, his son was younger and named after Ricky.
