Too early for fan evaluations. Defense appears solid. Not too many strike outs. Strike outs without any production to counter is what will get you moved out. We haven’t seen that.

So you must be a coach if it's too early for fan evaluations. Thanks

His defense is fine. I think his batting will come around, just give it time.

When coming in the report on him was that he would make plays he should make and every now and then make a play he shouldn't. I must admit, his arm did not seem as strong as I was expecting. Still enough to play the position but I was told his arm strength wasn't that far off from Thompson. I didn't see that opening weekend at all.

He needs to use a lighter bat. Seems late too often.

Thought he was pretty average, didnt make any wow plays but also didnt make any big mistakes other than the 1 error.

His range does not appear to be as good as expected for someone his size and build. Has made a couple of bad throwing errors and has not stood out defensively, arm is not + strength.... looks smooth on balls hit at him.
If he's hitting in the .300 range and has low K numbers he's fine where he is. If we are 2 months in and he's hitting 0.250 or below then his defense does not make up for the lack of plate production.

Defensively...I think he's the best we have, & it isn't even close. That's why he's going to have a long leash when it comes to hitting. The fact that he has good speed should help him out as well.

People that want to bench him b/c he's not an elite hitter are going to be very disappointed imo. This guy isn't coming out of the lineup.

Hard to really gauge his arm strength either from what I saw. It appeared at least this weekend that he was more focused on getting it out quick rather than rear back and fire it to first. Overall, I like what I saw. He had good ABs, made solid contact a lot and played stellar defense.

If you were expecting him to come in and be an All-American, you will probably be disappointed.

Definitely wasn't expecting All American type season. Just going by what I was told of his arm strength. I don't think there is a problem with his defense so far.

I was expecting to see some 90+ mph throws across the diamond too, especially from a guy his stature and the fact that he pitched a little at SC. I just never saw him set his feet and really step into one. It was all quick transition and flip it to first. At the end of the day, as long as he gets the out, I don't care if he's throwing 50mph or 100.

He makes Jordan Thompson look like Russ Johnson, which is impressive.

Agree with this. Defense is good.

The hitting is worrisome. I don't think you can hit .143 and stay in the lineup unless the other options are worse, but I'm not really worried about that until another couple weeks.

SS’s are like QBs, arm strength isn’t everything. Braswell has an average arm but his release his quick and internal clock is sharp.

Haven’t seen him go to his right much in scrimmages was awesome to his left & charging balls and throwing on the run

By LSU standards he looks pretty average at SS. Offensively IDK how long you can keep him in the lineup batting .143 with an OB of .200 unless we have no one to replace him at SS that is a better hitter. It's early so hopefully his hitting gets better.

He played at South Carolina last year, not South Carolina State.

He's an improvement over Jordan Thompson at hitting and fielding. But a drop off in arm strength and swagger.
