But in all seriousness, I hate that for the young kid. It was such a ridiculous flag on his behalf. Very immature of him to throw a shoe downfield and cost the team a key stop in the ball game. I also hate the fact that Florida fans are literally blaming him as he’s the sole reason they lost the ball game. LSU caught 2 INTS(1 Pick6) FF, & a crucial goal line stop. Trask wasn’t great. Defense wasn’t either. To cap it off you have a 51 yd FG with one of the best kickers in the country and he whiffs it. He deserve some backlash but not 100% of it. This was the definition of a team lost! FCK DEM GATORS!!!!!

This right fricking here. Dan MFing Mullen lost the game last night. Not any single player on the team.

of course no single play loses a game. But that was a CRUCIAL STUPID penalty late in the game when we were going to have to punt.

It was a massive play in the game, and galacticly stupid and undisciplined.

So Marco deserves every bit of criticism he gets.

Not denying that. He deserves the criticism but he didn’t miss the FG either, he didn’t turn the ball over 3 times. He deserves every bit you’re 100% right, but so does every guy in the locker room

I hear you, but some mistakes are worse than others. Physical mistakes happen.

But mental errors, especially undisciplined behavior late in a close game, are far more damaging because they should never occur.

Was it Rakin Ahlem that kicked a ball out of bounds and it resulted in something similar?

Marco’s shoe toss still doesn’t top Elijah Moore’s dog-pee stunt in last year’s Egg Bowl.

This. If he doesn’t call a timeout before the field goal and we have to rush Cade out there to beat the clock who knows what would have happened? Awful clock management by both coaches.

Of course I feel sorry for the kid, he’s gonna be haunted by that for a while. But for the life of me, I can’t understand how any football player could think that would be a good idea. I get adrenaline, but isn’t he a seasoned player? To make a penalty like that required almost a sense of “eff it, who cares if it’s a penalty I’ve gotta throw this shoe...”

It was so intentional....that being said we have got to teach and groom our young players to quit acting like that themselves (Ricks). We’re lucky that wasn’t a penalty. When you do crap like that you prove that you aren’t focused.

You are dead wrong. First, there was never any need to rush. Twenty five seconds is about ten more than we needed to comfortably get off a field goal. Also, Mullins timeout was brilliant. Without that Florida has no chance; with that timeout they got a 51 yard opportunity.

That timeout by Mullen was unequivocally a great call.

Screw that guy. He acted like a bitch the whole game. Anybody else I would feel bad for but not that guy.

After the first down and taking our second time out, we should have just called two up the middle dive plays (or maybe a QB sneak on the second). Let everyone know the plays, run the first and dare Florida to call a time out. If they don't, you run the second and call time out with 5 seconds left. Makes the FG a walk-off if Florida doesn't call a time out and takes away one of theirs if they do, which means they don't have another one to set up their FG attempt.

Sometimes your stupid decision is made up for by the other coach making an even dumber decision (See Sudden Dunce Overtime vs Tenn in 2010.)
