Don't you have to be a star pitcher in HS to get to this level of baseball?Don't you have to throw it over the plate in HS?
It is ridiculous how really bad our pitchers are? I would fire our pitching coach today. Anyone in the stands can to a job as well as he is doing. Just pitiful in identifying pitching talent.

Baseball recruiting is sometimes measured on potential and not the talent seen in high school.

Yes, but there is a difference in how the strike zone is called. Either way, you’re over reacting a bit. We pitched pretty well the first 2 games.

I agree, we have about 3 SEC pitchers on our staff....and maybe another making a case lately. It seems impossible that a program like LSU, especially with our natty title, not to have better evaluation of pitchers.

Cam Johnson was the highest rated recruit to ever make it to LSU and he walks more batters than anything. He isn’t close to being a contributor in a meaningful spot.

So how does one explain what has happened to him. I would think to be the highest rated pitcher, he would have to have the ability to throw strikes, but he can't. I honestly don't think he could last one inning if the opposing team never swung at any pitches. Has our coaching staff changed something in his delivery?

He’s a lefty who can hit upper 90s in high school with a big frame. MLB scouting is done off of potential.

We have some good young arms. You saw moffet today. Johnson and Anderson are very promising. I wouldn’t sell the pitching staff short for the 2025 season.

Moffett couldn’t throw strikes to save his life last year. It’s a process to take someone who can get by in high school with raw talent, and turn them into a real pitcher.

All we have been hearing about is Johnson’s talent, but all I see is a guy who can’t throw a strike.

I don’t understand where this evaluation is coming from. Spin rate and velocity measurements mean nothing unless you can control where the ball goes.

I hope coaches can bring this talent to fruition. LSU needs him to be the ace he was expected to be.

Fans always say wait until you see our pitching staff next year. Then we see it and it isn’t very good. Jump, Holman, Herring, Ack and Little the last few games have done well, not great, but when you can’t score that is a lot of pressure on pitching.

If you compare Little vs Auburn in '23 with Little vs Aggie in '24, it doesn't look like the same pitcher.

Players do improve. Some more and some faster than others. Very few show up as true Fr ready to pitch at this level. Lange was an exception.

It absolutely bafflea me. It's the amount of non competitive pitches that I can't understand. These guys get 0-1 or 0-2 on a batter then miss the next 3 pitches by 3 feet.

Cam Johnson is just going to take some work, he's still learning, huge upside with him

shite, Paul Skenes is still learning, he's having to develop some new pitches in the minors

Do you realize the difference in talent from the high school level to college? I can throw 78-80 mph over the plate all day long and get smashed. The strike zone is tighter than it was in high school as well. LSU just took 2/3 from the number one team when they desperately needed too.

Qb = Questionable Baw

Go lay down old man. You wanna talk shite about LSU pitching that just gave up 8 runs to the #1 team in the nation in games 1 and 2 and secured the series but didn't say anything about how well they did in those games.
