Maybe John David Washington is not a movie star and just got roles because of his race and dad.

He's a good actor, that wasn't the reason it flopped.

Edit: Also, it didn't flop

Sure. That seems like the most likely explanation.

Because the storyline went beyond complicated and wasn’t good. John David is a good actor.

I think I'd chalk it's box office up to a global pandemic and not being a very good movie more than I would John David Washington. Also, I guess you forgot it had a white co-star in Robert Pattinson. Is he to blame for it?

You disliking black people has you not knowing the difference between disappointing at the box office and flopping.

I didn't like Amsterdam. Was it his fault?

I actually did like Tenet though.

It would be a shame if this movie doesn’t turn a profit, as it was a fantastic change of pace from all the sequels, prequels and comic book movies that have dominated the last half decade.

Americans need to raise our standards and start supporting great, original work. I’m hoping strong word of mouth gives this things some legs, because this is exactly the type of movie we need more of.

Did Washington write, direct, edit, and then release it during a global pandemic?

What a shitty hot take. He’s a solid actor and has purposefully tried to separate himself from his Dad publicly.

I'm going to choose to ignore everything you said.

Anyway, high concept sci fi has always been challenging on big budgets due to its niche nature. sci fi novels perform the same vs more accessible novels.

Look at fantasy. only game of thrones became a global zeitgeist. You can look back to the days of twilight zone, star trek and even black mirror today.

they are all made on a modest budget but have accomplish a lot through the page. its because the wide audience doesnt exist for that type of content yet.

Not his fault it flopped. Almost everything else about it including many of the other characters and messy story is the reason. I regret wasting the money on it.

What’s the point of having a famous dad if you can’t use his connections?!?!

Tenet sucked and John David is not a leading man like his dad. He should stick to television or supporting roles.
