He kind of reminds me of Jay Cutler with his skills and the experience that he had leading a shitty team against a tough SEC schedule.

He went 6-0 before being benched for Williams.

Literally had one bad game

Yea someone posted Rattler’s numbers before being benched and they weren’t nearly as bad as I remembered. He’s was good.

It was always about the off field antics.
I remember hearing that, but don't recall what they actually were.

Looking back, he took over from Jalen Hurts as a redshirt freshman, led the Sooners to a 8-2 regular season and a bowl win, threw for 3k yds at 67.5%, 28 TDs and 7 int, was named 1st team All Big 12.
Not a bad freshman season.

Then Riley signed Caleb Williams, and decided he wanted Williams to start, but needed a reason to bump Rattler. Rattler started the year 5-0, with some shaky moments including some picks (who knows, maybe he was forcing things to stay on top). OU fell behind big to Texas, they brought Williams in and won, and Williams started the rest of the year.
Of note, OU also lost 2 games that year, both with Willams starting.

For the year, here's their stats to compare:
Rattler 140-187, 1483 yds, 11 TDs 5 int.
Williams 136-211, 1912 yds, 21 TDs 4 int.

And keep in mind, OU beat W Carolina 76-0, Rattler only played the first half, Williams got most of the second. Williams got the entire second half against Texas, Rattler only got something like 4 series the rest of the season. So if you're going YPG, Rattler is slightly ahead of Williams.

I just want him to be better than Penix. It would be hilarious and more pain for Falcons fans

Not to defend him, but he was still pretty young. Burrow couldn’t cut it at OSU and had to transfer. Look at Penix and Nix, nobody I mean absolutely no one thought they’d be top 12 picks when they transferred from their original schools.

All had greater success once they got older and matured.

That doesn’t mean he played exceptionally well or anything.

I don’t hate the pick and it’s worth a swing but I would go into this with zero expectations.

Texas fan. He's being sarcastic (at least I'm assuming that's the case lol).

It's more of those taking "this was a great value pick" and turning it into "yall are so dumb thinking he will take us to the Super Bowl or win anything"

Rattler had a better college career than Josh Allen. Similar talent. This was an extremely high upside pick in the 5th round.

Ok, I like the enthusiasm but cool your jets. Allen is almost half a foot taller than Rattler, 40 lbs heavier, and still had a faster 40 time and better athletic measurables.

This is true. And Spencer does have a hell of an arm. Just don't get carried away.

I will add onto what OP said and say Derick Carr is the Drew Bledsoe of our time. Carr will get hurt and the rat man will stepup and become the face of the nfl and lead the saints to multiple super bowls as OP stated

What about the developmental pick from Fresno, or the one from Pitt? How are those guys doing? I don't bother learning their names because why bother. This guy will probably be exactly the same as the other two, but it's a 5th round QB pick and that's OK, you have to just be realistic.
