There's been an unusual sighting at Padre Island National Seashore.

On Monday, PINS said a young American alligator from Lousiana ended up on its beach shores near Malaquite Beach. In a Facebook post, PINS officials wrote tags on the reptile's feet showed it came from another state.

After consulting with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, PINS transported the animal to a rehabilitation facility to recover from its long journey, the post stated.

While alligators are primarily freshwater animals, they can tolerate saltwater for a few hours or even days, according to the National Ocean Service. Don't worry, you probably won't find them in the ocean, as they primarily stick to swampy areas, rivers, streams, lakes and ponds.
