The Pontchartrain on St Charles or The Roosevelt?
Booking for Mardi Gras weekend, so keeping that in mind. Whole family.

I hear the whole city has valet parking these days, wether you want it or not.

They’re all the same. It just depends which hotel you would prefer to get carjacked at

Should have expected typical OT replies.

With family, ponchatrain all day. Roosevelt downtown will be nuts and crowded.

I've never stayed in The Pontchartrain but the Roosevelt is a very nice hotel.

My initial thought as well, but my concern would be more walking around at night and with the new Endymion route, the Roosevelt would be super close after we leave and also wouldn't be too far to get to Bacchus.
Normally we catch parades on ST Charles near the Expressway (across from the Popeyes).
Also, factoring in that The Pontchartrain would cost me $2,000. The Roosevelt would be free (HH points)

Got masks for the whole family?

Why contribute anything $$$ to that cesspool of a city?

Pontchatrain is literally on the parade route, so tough to beat.

Out if those two, I would do Roosevelt. That stretch of St Charles is probably better for parades than the Pontchartrain section. Plus, you are closer to the FQ if you wanted to walk over during the day.
Somewhere in the Warehouse district would be better, if you have somewhere available.
If this is where you normally catch it then the Pontchartrain fits your bill.

I always try to get Monteleone if I'm back in the city

Do they actually have vacancies for mardi gras? I figured the hotels in the city would be sold out far in advance

You’re taking your family to downtown New Orleans period much less during Mardi Gras?? Yikes. You need to really reconsider this.
