There is also a good page on case restoration that shows some examples of amazing lug reprofiling.
Didn’t realize he was offering that service now. Looks like mine is going to have to take a ride to Hong Kong.

In my experience, using an authorized Rolex service is essential. When you take your watch to an authorized service center, you know that experts with specific training will handle it. They have access to genuine parts, which ensures that your watch maintains its value and functions perfectly. I've heard stories of people who went to non-authorized services and ended up with more problems or fake parts. As for the cost, authorized services can indeed be expensive, often ranging from $500 to $800, depending on the model and what needs to be done. If cost is a major concern, you might want to explore trusted sites like replicapanerai.io , where you can find high-quality watches without breaking the bank.

Don’t send it to RSC, take it to Watch Repair in Baton Rouge on Florida Blvd at Airline overpass. Probably costs $250. I’ve used him to service a 1969 Speedmaster and others, he’s excellent.
If these guys are still around then I also recommend them: excellent work at a very fair price.

I’ve never found them to be a bargain compared to say Lee Michaels but they are a little less. But they have been knowledgeable and got the job done. FWIW.

Just popping in to say that I have a Rolex my dad gave me. He won it. Nothing fancy, maybe $5k retail. Got salt water in it when the time adjustment gear, Crown, popped open. Rolex wanted $4k to fix . (OT poor) The watch , original box, and paperwork are under my sink and will be for the foreseeable future.

If not, what’s a fair price for a typical Rolex service?
Doesn't really matter, they will not negotiate what you perceive is fair or not.
