We’ve talked about the tipping issue, but what about the donations at point of sale?

Surely I’m not the only one tired of being hit up for donations at the drug store, the grocery store, the sporting goods store, etc. while checking out. Why has this become so prevalent?

I chuckle when tab is like 19.97 and they ask me to round up to 20 and then say sure.

just remember, it aint the sales clerk's fault. They probaly don't feel like asking for it either.

I'm equally tired of being asked if I'm a member of their buyer's club or if I'd like to join or apply for a credit card with said company.

I don’t feel like this is anything new. And saying no to this seems to be easier for most than tipping.

But I am sick of being asked my frickin email address.

I don’t mind the whole round up to support X foundation, but I never add extra dollars for donations.

I’ve always heard that these corporations use the donations as deductions for taxes. Makes sense why everyone jumped on board and it’s a great reason to say no. If I’m donating to a charity then it won’t be to the benefit of a billion dollar company.

At PetsMart:

"Would you like to donate to help homeless animals?"

"No. I'm already doing that every time I come here to buy a $75 bag of Science Diet for the rescue dog I adopted."
