2 weeks ago we fished the rocks at Bayou Caddy and caught a dozen rat reds then hit the Isle Au Pitre and didn't get a bite. Does anyone have any advice on which direction to head this weekend? I was thinking maybe the rocks/beach towards Gulfport, Biloxi marsh towards Le Petit Pass, Heron Bay,the man made reefs, and/or half moon island. We also fished the wolf river inlet to the bay last time and got skunked. we did pick up a couple keepers at Jailhouse reef.

I usually stay further East, but have been catching plenty reds in the marsh lately. Will probably head that way for a few hours this afternoon actually.

Haven't fished the nearshore reefs much recently, but the few stops have yielded big drum and bull reds for my son every time.

East side of the marsh. My visits to Cat this year have been pretty underwhelming...

10-4. I tried cat 3 times and the lady fish were thick. I’ll report back how we do. I keep hearing the bay will heat up later in October.

How does half moon island fish? Just moved to the areas and have been looking for areas to fish. Was going to head that way this weekend.

Speck is the expert, but I had a little luck there in early May with trout. I'm still learning the area and didn't fish much this year with work and weather.

It should be pretty good before long.

I've rarely fished there, so I'm not much help.

Update
We hit the east side of the marsh and picked up 4 nice redfish and 20 trout Thursday around pirate point. Tried to go this morning but the wind had the waves rolling so we stayed close to BSL. I need to learn where to fish in the bay or I’ll be a slave to the wind every weekend. In retrospect me and my son should have come back to the camp and headed back to the marsh after lunch when the wind died. From my camp in BSL it’s 19.8 miles to where we went Thursday

Cold months fish the marsh back toward Portage to Dupont. Real cold periods fish the Jourdan or Wolf River bottoms. Hot months you really want to be out at Biloxi Marsh or barrier island but I don't see why you couldnt find some bites around piers on Pass side closest to the outside opening and maybe the train bridge bottom.

Solid. I took off work just for the morning and ran out there yesterday as well, but had a rough go at it. Rat reds & overs, but couldn't find a slot to save my life. Hoped a tripletail might salvage the morning on the way in, but didn't see a single one. Even broke a rod on a dang gafftop. Just one of those days.

Don't know where this is. I never got south of Chevrette yesterday.

I’ve fished that area since I was 13. Lived on the coast every summer running a john boat till my arm fell off. The Jordan river during the winter is underrated. You can troll rattle traps and catch really nice trout all the way up to the interstate bridge. I’ve caught so many flounder by the DuPont factory. Half moon can be hit or miss. I rarely fish it. Flat boat on the right day can be magical. Pass Marianne rig holds really big trout. I like fishing the LA marsh. You’ll have crap trips amd really good trips. Just have to learn each time. Lots of triple tail out there too but if you want to fish them you have to put in the time. I’ve spent trips at cat island and loaded the boat with flounder. I’ve had some nice trout trips there as well. Just explore and learn the areas. It’s just as much fun finding your own spots and fishing styles to catch fish

The guy that runs the bait ahop told me that area and BSL start getting good when the water temperature gets into the 70s. I’ll probably head back next week and try the marsh again weather permitting. I’ll report back how it goes. I’m pretty much picking random cuts in the marsh on my GPS and dinking around trying to figure out what works. I appreciate all the help. I’m trying to get my son and daughter interested and catching a few goes a long way especially with the 16-20 mile one way trip from camp to marsh.
