A coworker sent me this. Was taken in a swamp in South Louisiana. Any idea what it is?

Rat snake on the hunt. They’ll do some climbing, had one slithering across the top fence board at my house a while back. Hopefully he’s making sure the shed stays free of rodents for me.

Dark phase of the Arborial Man Constrictor in search mode. Do not attempt to approach or you may wind up as one of the many swamp disappearances recently attributed to this man-eater.

Also known as a Rat snake.

Again, leave it be!

Never saw a rat snake that big, or that dark. That's a big mamajama.

I was out trying to photograph baby great horned owls a few weeks ago, and saw about a 6ft rat snake about 30ft up in a big oak tree. First time i've seen one that high up.

Someone who knows how do research on that picture.

Certain it was posted here several years ago.

Or I might have Deja Vu?

They do get big fo’sho.
When I was a kid I caught one 6’4” and one 6’6” in the same week. Never found another over 6’ after that - plenty in the 5’ range though.

Didn't know a rat snake had color patterns like this. Looked like a boa of some sort at first.

That’s the biggest rat snake I’ve ever seen. Holy sh*t
