Argentina and El Salvador are more democratic than the United States.

Just typing that subject feels wild to me but it may be true.
If the current trajectory of both of these nations holds, both would have went from poorly ran, borderline failed states, to beacons of democracy.
I have almost no hope left that America can do the same. Our politicians have no concern about even keeping up the illusion that they are concerned about their constituents’ interests.
They don’t even attempt to mask their lack of concern anymore, which is so insulting it makes me angry. For the first time in my life I am beginning to believe that America may be doomed. For the first time in my life I think there is actually a chance that the future situation in America may be so bleak that at some point I would consider at least entertaining the thought of living somewhere else.
I found myself looking up real estate in El Salvador and Argentina this morning.
And the thought occurred to me that a group of people could easily pool together enough resources to buy 100s of acres that could be useful if the time ever comes to leave.
Man I hope we can turn this broken-down behemoth ship around. As I grow older my optimism dies more each passing year.

You go dude, don't ever change. Whereas I can see the attraction to Argentina, particularly the toney enclaves just outside BA, El Salvador is just a step above shithole. Good luck getting any timely help from workmen in Buenos Aires or Rosario or Santa Fe

I had been exploring for awhile land in the Mendoza region. I’m a wine lover though and think that area is just grossly undervalued for the quality of grapes and wine that come out of there.

Dude, maybe you can get a house in Mendoza. The good land is owned by generational Estancias and they ain't giving up their land in any appreciable or for that matter minute amount. Too valuable from an industry perspective.
They do make excellent Malbecs, though
