Sort of...

quote:

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Monday informed mediators Qatar and Egypt that his Palestinian militant group had accepted their proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza after nearly seven months of war.

Interesting, I wonder why they are just now deciding to acce-

quote:

The Hamas announcement came after Israel on Monday called on Palestinians to leave eastern Rafah ahead of a ground invasion of the southern Gaza city, amid increasing global alarm about the consequences of such a move.

There it is.

And now, the rest of the story...

quote:

A senior Hamas official however stressed that "this does not mean that the ceasefire has come into effect yet", pointing out that "the Israeli side has not yet communicated its position".

"The ball is now in the court of the Israeli occupation, whether it will agree to the ceasefire agreement or obstruct it," another senior official told AFP on condition of anonymity, because he was not authorised to speak publicly about the negotiations.

The IDF holds back, Hamas gets to claim a small victory for stopping them from making Rafah into rubble. They will also win praise for "saving women and children" from those evil Israelis.

The IDF goes in regardless (since the missile strike on the humanitarian gate came from Rafah) and Hamas cries and puts on the pity face while the global media thrashes Israel for not being willing to negotiate.

Here's the kicker: even if Israel decided to hold back, Hamas is still going to make some sort of strike against them because they just can't help themselves.

Hamas agreed to a deal suggested by Egypt and Qatar.

Israel wasn't party to the deal and they said no.

Hamas is throwing some BS out there to make it look like Israel wont agree to a ceasefire.

quote:

Hamas said in a statement that the two leaders emphasised that “resistance factions will not back down from their demands”, including a ceasefire, a comprehensive withdrawal of Israeli troops, an “honourable” exchange of prisoners, reconstruction of Gaza, and the lifting of its siege.

Hopefully Israel will agree once their military campaign in Rafah is successfully completed.

They can accept, but if Bibi wants the show to go on, the show will go on.

The only reason Hamas accepted it is they want more outrage in the United States. They want unrest here in our country.

If I were BIbi, I would turn the heat up 2 fold.

This will never stop with Hamas hiding behind Palestine. It's war. It sucks. But you have to think about the bigger picture.

If the United States would have folded during our past wars you possibly would not be alive today.

Israel can either finish Hamas off now or back off due to pressure, let them rebuild and be right back in a war with them a couple of years from now.

You have to finish this now. No way in hell I would start over from scratch.

It’s whack a mole. They can nominally kill every Hamas member in Gaza and the problem will still persist. Splinter groups, ISIS types that think Hamas is too moderate, and the now thousands of people radicalized throughout this war.

That’s not to say that Israel’s actions arent justified—I believe they are, war is hell—but there is no such thing as ending this conflict. Probably ever.

Hamas was counting on international pressure to save them once again what they didn't count on was Israel telling Biden to frick off. Israel has no choice AND owes it to their citizens but to finish the job

Exactly.

Everyone saying “finish off Hamas” has no idea what that even means or what it would require. No one knows how many of them there are and where they are

Plus this whole episode will just ensure the kids who are living there now will become terrorists under the banner of some other group when they are older seeking revenge.

Good chance they are not. Hamas is a bunch of animals. They want a cease fire? Too bad, so sad.

Israel...

Just a time-buying exercise for the Hamas leadership that is holed up there. They know their days are numbered and just want some extra time to figure out how to escape.

Israel is 100% justified. Actually there is a book out there who's last chapter tells of how the conflict ends
