Western Europe has immigrant problem, but it's confined mostly to the bigger cities. Places like Florence and Siena have a few immigrants but it's minimal when compared to the really big cities like Paris, Marseilles, Rome, Milan and Northern Germany.
My brother was in Basilicata which is in between the toe and heel of Italy. Not a huge population and most of the "immigrants: he encountered were Americans and Brits as well as a few Canadians who had moved there because you can get a sizeable 600 yr old home there for like 13K pump an additional 35 K and you can have a modern American like place
The East coast (Adriatic)of Italy has almost no immigrants in the towns there. San Marino is a very cool place. Stay away from Bari though.....a shithole like Naples
