my IT neighbor suggested dwservice.net - works great and I can access my 80+ yr parents pc and get them out the binds they find themselves in. free no adds you do have to load the agent on at their end

AnyDesk works very well. Free, simple to use, and cross platform.

Use chrome remote. RDP is vulnerable, we had an attempted brute force attack on our server.

You can set it up remotely by going here (remote support). It will ask them to install a file and after that they will be able to generate a code for you to take over control of their computer. Next all you have to do is add a chrome profile for yourself on their computer and then go here (remote access) to add their computer to your account.

Also, RDP is not available with Win10 home edition, however there is a workaround to activate it on home edition if you really want to go that route.

VNC server and viewer is free and I've used it fairly frequently. Should be an easy way to get that going these days.

I use TV (we use it at work as well), it's ridiculously handy. The only issue is the free version is limited on the number of computers you can connect to (4 or 5, but I believe you can work around that by removing ones from your list to swap in others, just make sure you write down the numbers).
