Will adding a soundbar to a cheap garage tv make the sound louder?

I have a cheap $100 TV in my garage to put on games when I’m in the garage. When I run my fan, the sound is hard to hear. What’s the best way to add a speaker? I’m assuming just get a cheap sound bar? I’ve never used a soundbar so that’s why I’m asking.

Thanks in advance.

Several years back we bought a Vizio sound bar with a subwoofer, I don’t remember the exact price but I want to say it was around $200. It’s more than enough for our den that’s about 400 square feet.

Yes, I soundbar should be louder than a TV.

The question is whether your cheap TV has the correct output to supply the soundbar. It will need an HDMI ARC output or a digital output either coax or optical and the proper cable to connect them, some soundbars come with the cables some don't.

ETA what I am saying is you need to determine the type(s) of audio output the TV has or alternatively if you are using some sort of input device for the TV what types of audio outputs it has.

Ultimately, speakers can’t defy physics. The speaker in your TV is tiny, which is why it sounds like shite. If you buy more/bigger speakers, yes, it will be louder. Just be careful with the “cheap” part. You don’t need to go fancy or expensive, but you need to make sure you’re getting enough equipment to make a difference.

Yes it will, flat screen TV speakers are either facing down or to the rear which affects the sound traveling, as well as small cheap speakers in them.

Just make sure the soundboard you purchase has the correct input jacks for your TV.

Most have hdmi or optical. Some also have rca.

Yes it will. There are many out there to choose from. If you can budget for the matching sub woofer that would be even better.

My parents have This one for $115 and it sounds pretty great for what it is. Subwoofer built in. Would be perfect for a garage or shop IMO.

Cheap Roku sound bars work great for these applications.

Streaming + sound. One box. Less wires etc.
