I live in the area. Are you wanting to stay in SA proper or just around the area?

I guess around the Pearl and Boardwalk area. Any other recommendations?

It’s kind of a big city so where will you be spending most of your time? Good news is without traffic San Antonio is an easy drive around

Downtown has plenty of good hotels but I love the west 1604 loop area by Six Flags and Sea World. Very pretty

I've stayed in Riverwalk 3 times over the past few years and really like it for just relaxing, eating, drinking. If I go again I'll probably stay in the Pearl district though. I've heard a lot of good things about it.

The Pearl is nice. Hotel Emma is gorgeous as well but can be pricey. I would not recommend staying at the Riverwalk.. it’s extremely touristy and navigating downtown is a pain. The Northwest area is great. Around six flags, La Cantera and the Pearl and very nice. Several good places to stay around there. If you can make it up to downtown Boerne ( the town I live in ) I would highly recommend. Some good places to eat and drink. Lots of neat little shops as well. Hope this helps.

My daughter (no pics) went to college in SA so I've been there a lot. The Riverwalk is very pretty, but that's about it. It's extremely crowded and the food is just generally not the best. There are a few exceptions, but I'd never go out of my way to eat there. The Pearl area is much better for eating and drinking.

However, for me, I usually stay near 410 and 281. There are a lot of reasonably priced hotels in the area and it's a short drive to other areas of town you'd like to visit besides the Riverwalk and Pearl areas and you don't have to pay for parking. It really depends on what you want to do during your visit.

Second the Hotel Contessa. We stayed there about 10 years ago and loved it.

The best for kids is the Hyatt hill country . I have 3 girls 4,12 and 17 something for all. Movies by the pool. S’mores , lazy river and water slides. Right across the highway from sea world and 15 min max from downtown. Adults la cantera resort is top choice for us. Great golf and spa as well.

It kind of depends what you are planning on doing while in SA. If going to Sea World, Hyatt Hill Country, Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch, or La Cantera.

If you are looking for a lower cost, I've been told the Drury hotels are good.
