Brandon Marcello of CBS Sports released his Post-Spring Top 25 on Monday and ranked LSU at No. 8.
quote:

No. 8 LSU:
Garrett Nussmeier is the best quarterback in the SEC until Arch Manning or someone else proves otherwise on the field. The Tigers looked like a championship team midway through 2024 but fell apart down the stretch, particularly against Alabama. LSU recruited the nation's No. 1 portal class, adding several big-time receivers and upgrading depth in the trenches. Brian Kelly had won 10 games or more in seven straight seasons until falling flat in 2024. This team is built to win an SEC title.

All gonna come down to O-line. Tons of turnover at the position but plenty of depth at just about all the others.

LSU has to win on opening day against Clemson at Clemson. This will define what LSU can do with the portal additions and new and existing talent. Clemson is loaded with First Round projection picks on their team.
Tough game for LSU.

We win game 1, grab your butts. It'll be one of those years.

Penn state is NOT close to the 3rd beat team. The Penn state love amuses me. Drew Allar is also a mediocre QB at best.

Oklahoma and Auburn, but no Ole Miss? I don't believe it.

Oklahoma was wrecked by injuries last year. Ole Miss lost their playmakers. Auburn has been recruiting well. It’s all possible.

Win the opener and I’ll be convinced.

LSU at 8 seems low. Before the season starts, I honestly think LSU is better than OSU, Georgia, Oregon and Notre Dame.

All they have to do is hover around that 5-10 range all season. Dont fall off and make it difficult to get back in the field. Basically do what tenneseee did or better

Should've notched up a spot or two with our signing class. Got studs at S and CB (talking 4-5 INT a season studs, 12+ PD). Got Jared Verse from FSU. Loaded at WR, Durham and 5 star, Nuss return. Seniority at LB in Perkins and Weeks.

I'm telling you man. That Baylor game kind of felt like UCF. I know that's a stretch, but the roster isn't a stretch. I'm thinking the floor may be 10-2 this year despite another daunting schedule. I'd be surprised if we don't make the playoffs.

As seen last year, the final 4 teams all had top 10 Defenses. We lacked that last 2 years. 2023 is a Nati year with a quasi-okay defense. I'm feeling it this year. I haven't felt that way in a long time, but I am legitimately after heavy research feeling it.

Don't want to sound conceited, but my overall gut intuition feel about each season has been right at least since 2020. I never quite felt that all the pieces were there for any season since 2020. I feel that this year. Legitimately think we have studs at every single position. BK did a PHENOMENAL JOB in the transfer portal. Hats completely off to him here. Put up $1 mil of his own money bc he wants that Nati. He got exactly who we needed in the Transfer Portal. Unfortunately 80 year old Oracle CEO's 33 year old wife wanted Bryce Underwood and got him. Despite likely not even knowing how many penalty yards a false start is, or what the infraction even is if she saw it.

Texas is the new Bama. Regardless of what they do the season before, they will get a top 5 ranking.

That's been happening since 2010 brother. Many years were top 10 preseason to go 6-6 in Big 12.

2010? Try 1953.

"This team is built to win an SEC title." Obviously they don't think that we will, ranking the Tigers behind TexAss & Ghaaagha...
