A&M might not be the only team that tries to swipe Denbrock. ND fans are clamoring for him

Not sure how much LSU is paying him, but whatever it is I doubt ND wants to go near it especially if there is also a buyout. But the ND fans sure do want him to come back now that they are looking for an OC.

I knew he had just signed an extension, but didn't know the annual salary and buyout terms of the new deal.

Like I said, I doubt the ND PTB would be willing to buy it out, but his name is far and away the most discussed in all of the new OC threads on their 247 site.

They can look elsewhere. Why would he take a lower tiered job?

Not sure ND is that much of a lower tier than LSU, and historically has been on a tier above LSU. Also, he spent 10 or more years of his coaching career at ND, and is from the midwest. Again, I'm not saying that he would leave, I'm just saying he is at the top of the ND fans wish list, and they are even starting to make claims that their "sources" (in quotes for a reason) are hinting at him being a real candidate.

ETA: Here is a thread where someone is even claiming that a "source" has hinted at Denbrock: LINK

And the head guy on their 247 site wrote this in the thread:
quote:

Mike Denbrock
Joe Moorhead
Kirby Moore

Get it done.

Notre Dame doesn't pay market rates for coaches. They count on the mystique and history of Notre Dame to attract coaches.

It's why they settled on an internal hire last year after being rebuffed by everyone they approached due to money.

This is just really funny after we had a whole offseason where ND fans clamored that no one wanted to work for BK and he had to desperately go back to Denbrock who he previously fired at ND and is an awful OC, etc etc

Yeah, that's why said in the OP that I didn't think they'd go into his current salary/buyout waters. But I figured it was a relevant topic to discuss here since it involved LSU's OC and ND.

Two different stints totaling around 10 years or so.

I heard that Saban is going to Carolina. The fans really want him. I do not know if they can pay him what he earns at Alabama.

No you didn't. And I never said I heard that Denbrock was going to ND.

No they don't, and you can't show me a Panthers fan site where they are clamoring for him. But I can show you one of ND's biggest fans sites (and already posted a link) where their fans are clamoring for Denbrock.

It's an NFL team. I'm sure they can pay that if they really wanted to. And ND could pay Denbrock what he earns at LSU if they wanted to. I just don't see them wanting to based off of their prior history.

The LSU offense was Jayden Daniels. Denbrock has one run play.

Here is the latest post by Tom Loy, the main board mod on ND's 247 board: LINK

quote:

Couple thoughts about Mike Denbrock

I think he checks the box of someone that would be comfortable staying for a few years. Continuity is key for Marcus Freeman

I think he would be a great fit with the current group in South Bend, both staff and players.

I think he could coach tight ends at a high level and get the most out of that room.

I think Gino Guidugli and Deland McCullough would work well with him and stick around.

I think Denbrock would have no issues not bringing a coach with him or hiring "his guy" on staff. He's a team player all the way.

I think he would cost a lot of money to come over from LSU and I think Notre Dame is willing to pay a lot for a coordinator.

Just some thoughts.

Again, I'd be surprised if they pony up the money it would take to pry Denbrock away from LSU (although they do have the money if they were actually willing to spend it), but even their mods are getting worked up about Denbrock as a real possibility.
