DeBoer and staff were only PNW for two years. It’s a Sioux Falls, SD staff.

Oof. To go from a Nick Saban assembled staff to a staff made up of Kalen Deboers Sioux Falls tagalongs.

While this is true, you still rely on the assistants connections. They still have to have a great relationship with the player.

All these teams will be offering about the same amount 9r money.

It has, but everyone in the SEC is spending to some degree. When the money is close all around, you still have to be able to build relationships and offer something else that stands out.

It's not a Nick Saban staff (even tho Saban wanted Grubb), but it's a staff that's got a playoff win and a CFP national championship appearance on their resume. Something no other staff, other than Kirby's, can say in the SEC

Coaches roll in tight circles, youll rarely see a guy take a job and not bring many if not most of his guys with him.

They won’t.
DeBoer is in over his head.
The fall will be glorious.

DeBoer didn’t take the job to let Saban run the ship chief

This, and Saban didn’t just buy a $12 million home in Naples just so he could hang out in Tuscaloosa

ETA: Jupiter Island, not Naples

Hopefully as good as it worked for Auburn a few years ago.

Saban being allowed to still have influence, is going to be a toxic situation

This is the issue. No matter the retirement home/island/lake homes that Saban has….the fact that he will be IN the building at times will undercut the respect for the new guy. Everyone will SEE who is running things.

Nick needs to be a phone call away. Not a step or two down the hall away.

Doubt it. Bama football is a national brand like Duke basketball

You'll find out quickly that that was Saban and not Alabama.

No. Nick Saban and his Bama program could.

This is a solid staff coaching wise, I just wonder how a bunch of guys from the Pacific Northwest who have never lived in the south are going to be able to sell kids in the south.
Grubb and Morrell are both from the Midwest, not PNW. Being from outside the Deep South hasn't seemed to stop BK, Les Miles, Saban, or Urban Meyer be effective recruiters. Don't really get this whole "one of us" attitude some people have.

I really hope DeBoer doesn't try to preach loyalty. 1 year at Fresno, 2 years at Washington. Im guessing he'll leave alabama in a heartbeat for the NFL. thats ok, karma always catches up. Im a huge UW fan, and we got lucky in a few games last year because our defense couldnt stop anyone. im curious to see how that plays in the SEC
