For the life of me, I don't know why CFB hasn't moved to a 4-1-6. That's the most effective D against spread offenses.

Those 4 DL provide size in the middle & pass-disruption speed on the edge. The one LB covers the one RB. The 6 DBs cover the 4 receivers & the running QB/run support.

It's great if you're playing a spread offense, not great against a power run team with defensive backs getting thrown left and right by guards run blocking.

They do. It’s called the dime package when basing out of a 4-3.
Nickel is a 4-2-5.

Yeah, I dont get the durkin love. He is decent, but nothing to get excited about.
