It's great to see Bama eat shite but the powers that be over college football need to wake up. These coaches want out and they are leaving millions on the table to do so.

There’s no shortage of coaches. There’s nothing that needs to be done. The people who find that work worth the money or are good at that role will replace those guys and the world will keep spinning

This fricking sucks for sure. But if you look at the broader scope, it's indicative of a larger problem from the nil and recruiting perspective in college. It's just gonna be more common for college coaches to take less money for the work load of the NFL compared to college

Grubb is a loss, he was objectively the best OC in CFB.

Huff is also a loss, guy was a top 3 OL coach in his own right.

Grubb was basically told by his family “have fun, we’re staying in Seattle.”

Not sure I blame him given the ultimatum for choosing his family and the NFL over a college job he very likely would’ve only stayed at a year or two before he made the jump to HC somewhere.

He might’ve also decided he’d prefer to go the NFL OC -> NFL HC path. I sure would in 2024.

The offense was always DeBoers, this is more akin to Saban losing Kirby than Dabo losing Venables where he’s not really qualified to oversee that side of the ball. I would agree it will require more of his time and attention now to oversee a first time play caller whereas he could’ve delegated almost entirely to DeBoer.

To be fair, they also work substantially less in the NFL

True but he was fine with the long hours to provide a better life for his family until he took a few long drives around Tuscaloosa. At which point he realized getting out is worth several hundred thousand dollars per year

Yea that’s reasonable. The wide receivers coach did a wonderful job with the receivers so Co-oc sounds like it could be the move.

Didn’t take long for the guys to realize a sinking ship when they joined. Good for them to leave before deboer loses 6 games next year. Bama fans are all in the transfer portals

This sure looks to me like a bunch of Yankees, PNWers, and a couple Cali guys landed in Tuscaloosa and looked around and said “frick this noise.”

You know this what happened... probably had to many impromptu meetings with people who demanded they explain their philosophy and commitment to Bama moving forward... w

to be fair, the sinking ship was probably Tuscaloosa not the football team

This is fricked up if they actually waited until the window passed and he was going to Seattle from the start

The wife didn’t want to move to Tuscaloosa. She lives in Seattle.It’s not a conspiracy theory.

2024 Seattle vs 2024 Tuscaloosa is basically another country.

If he had a problem working for DeBoer why did he work for DeBoer for a decade?

There is also the question of NIL era CFB vs the NFL coaching pathway that almost every CFB reporter is saying is about to be a major talent drain on the college ranks because no one wants to deal with re-recruiting their entire roster every year.

Have you read anything about the situation or are you just trolling?

In this case a 20% pay cut > losing half your wealth and family due to divorce/separation.

Anyone who has ever been offered a big promotion across the country with children in school understands there’s more at play than just cash at that point.

He was gonna take the job instead of Rees and the family vetoed it 18 months ago. Anyone who expected Grubb to be in Tuscaloosa long was delusional.

It was always going to be a stepping stone to a HC job or the NFL. Top coordinators at premier schools that sustain success don’t stay coordinators long and he was already getting HC looks the last two cycles.

It sucks, but that’s modern CFB and it’s nothing abnormal for Bama fans over the last ten years.

Kirby -> UGA
Pruitt -> UT
Kiffin -> FAU/OM
Sark -> Texas
Locksley -> Maryland
BOB -> NFL
Golding -> not renewed

The defense was always Saban’s from a scheme standpoint. He literally wrote the book on it.

Doesn’t mean there wasnt massive value to having Kirby or Pruitt executing it and making the calls so you can focus on other things.

Same deal here.
