Sorry. Fat fingered the down vote. Meant to up vote.

The only thing the ncaa should care about is academic integrity. It’s the whole premise of the “you get a free education” argument. The UNV scandal confirms that the NCAA doesn’t care about the student side of student athlete.

That old 6 series of the 80's is the best looking BMW since the M1 of 1979-80.

You sound like a bitch. DB made LSU basketball and all fans should be thankful for what he did. So we all know the major programs cheated and still cheat…so what? You’re going to bash one of our coaches and ignore the other?

And I would say most of those never watched the success we had in the 80’s. We had one of the longest ncaa tournament streaks

think LSU's success today in recruiting good players can partially be attributed to Brown who put LSU basketball on the map.

I don’t have any I’ll will toward brown. But the flip side was we got sanctioned and had to crawl our way out if the wasteland because of him too.

We basically started over.

And this is not enough for you to harbor ill will towards Brown ? About the only thing I appreciate about Brown is the infamous Bobby Knight quote.Otherwise , he was a piss poor coach. Kinda like having O on the basketball court.

Old people like me probably have more appreciation for Dale. Having grown up watching Maravich teams with .500 records Dale brought us to national prominence, final 4, etc. Sort of the equivalent of Saban and LSU football. Plenty of reasons to not like him, but he put us on the map in a competitive way.

During the Maravich era, the Tigers didn't make one NCAA appearance. Before Brown, they hadn't made the tournament since 1954, and had never won the SEC.

In 2007, this was from Earl: "I was pressured into telling them SOMETHING. I was 19 years old at that time. The NCAA intimidated me, manipulated me into making up things, and basically encouraged me to lie, in order to be able to finish my playing career at Kansas. They told me if we don't find any dirt on Coach Brown you won't be allowed to play but one more year at Kansas. I caused great harm, heartache and difficulties for so many people. I feel sorriest for hurting Coach Brown. Coach Brown, I apologize to you for tarnishing your magnificent career at LSU."

Dale brown needs to go away. The fact he hates will wade is hilarious bc he’s not one of the good ole boys. He doesn’t deserve to have the court named for him. He shits on wade for dirty recruiting yet dale got hammered by the ncaa for the same damn thing. He’s a hypocrite

Dale was complicated as the OP well stated. Dale was full of love and anger. He did so much good for others because of the difficult childhood he had. He was determined to be the champion of the poor and the oppressed. He fought for the common man and the underdog. Somewhere, these identities became blurred. He could get angry when he felt challenged.
Yet, in the end, we are all complex creatures. We want to be accepted and we become irritable when we feel rejected.
