And in your view the invasion was something Russia dreamed up, planned, and executed in 119 days?
To be fair, the Russian army has performed like the whole thing was dreamed up, planned, and executed in 119 days.

Russia planned longer than 120 days to invade and position troops.

Need to go back to Putin seeing the debacle of the Afghanistan “pull out” to see he saw weakness in the US and figured the time was right to make his long planned move on Ukraine.

Also was timed after Olympics finished as not to mess with China….

NATO membership was just another excuse…..

1944 when they pushed the Germans out.

Official joint statement declaring support for Ukraine membership in NATO.

That is a real prescient statement. It speaks of a Ukrainian war with Russia that will kill 14,000 Ukrainians, Russia redrawing the map of Ukraine by force and occupying Ukrainian territory, and Russia dictating sovereign choices of the Ukrainian people. It predicts Russia destabilizing the Black Sea and threatening broader global energy and food security.

All in September 2021! Months before the conflict even started!!

120 days to mobilize. Yes you can when you only have to project power a couple hundred miles. Particularly if you already have troops in theater. They obviously were not as prepared as they should have been; but 120 days would suffice.

Also remember that Biden and Putin met right after the Zelenskyy summit (it was very important evidently to Zelinsky to meet first).

But they picked the invasion date. Why would they intentionally place themselves on such a tight timescale? There was no imminent threat from NATO or anyone else that would have prevented them from waiting even another year if needed.

Does not equal 120 days to plan, mobilize, and enact war plans.

The war plans were drawn up over the course of years.

You seem to think war plans are drawn up during mobilization

Russia is at fault for starting the war.

Russia is at fault for the continuation of the war.

You are a pinko bitch.

Which probably saved Ukraine. If the war starts two weeks earlier the ground is still frozen solid and the Russian army isn't road bound.

There wasn't an attempt by Ukraine to join NATO pre Feb 24th 2022. It was trying to join the EU. Support for this was in western Ukraine pre 2014 Maidan Square massacre, after the massacre the want to join the EU spread nationwide even among ethnic Russians. They wanted to get out from under the thumb of Russian corruption.

Lots of politards on here today. They received their marching orders, without even realizing it, so Ukraine is definitely making progress on the battlefield.

Go ahead and put Ben and Jerry’s ice cream on the list of entities against supporting Ukraine, right next to the poliboard.

Really interesting bed fellows.

Planning, however bad it was, started long before then. Gazprom leased 15% (could be more but that is from memory) of natural gas storage space in Europe at least a year earlier. It put nothing into that space all of 2021. It feigned pipeline outages (but that could have been typical Russian competence).

The idea that planning only began 120 days before is out of total ignorance.

It just said we support Ukraine’s right to choose their own way. It doesn’t say we want them in NATO. We are telling Russia that Ukraine isn’t your lap dog and that they have the same rights that other sovereign nations have.

Here is the exact paragraph.

quote:

Supporting Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic Aspirations: As the United States and Allies reaffirmed in the June 2021 NATO Summit Communique, the United States supports Ukraine’s right to decide its own future foreign policy course free from outside interference, including with respect to Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO. We also remain committed to assisting Ukraine with ongoing reforms.
