What level of English do you really need to fly a plane? A2, B1 (CEFR scale)?

I think you could easily hit that in 100days if your prioritize it.

The Russian Embassy in Turkey has urged citizens to avoid flying Turkish Airlines due to a recent uptick in passengers being denied boarding on connecting flights from Istanbul to Latin American destinations.

“We’re compelled to advise our citizens to carefully weigh the advisability of using the services of this airline,” the embassy said in a statement Monday.

It accused Turkish Airlines of turning away Russian passengers from boarding flights to Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Panama and other Latin American countries without explanation in recent weeks.

ATOR also attributed the denials to concerns about illegal immigration to the United States. There has been a surge in Russians crossing the U.S.-Mexico border since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

Of this amount, €40 million will be used to support the Ukrainian private sector involved in reconstruction work, and €380 million will be used to develop critical infrastructure using renewable energy.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has increased the number of the State Border Guard Service by 15,000 servicemen.

This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak.

The total number of the State Border Guard Service will be up to 75,000 people (including 67,000 military personnel) before martial law is lifted in Ukraine.

Ukrainian units have again used drones to attack targets in at least five regions of Russia.

?? Four drones were destroyed on approach to Voronezh. As a result of one drone crashing on private property, a crater about 1 sq m was found, and a fire broke out in a local gardening association.

?? In Lipetsk, a drone fell in an industrial zone, and local authorities evacuated nearby homes.

?? In the Smolensk Region, UAVs attacked fuel and energy facilities in the Smolensk and Yartsevo districts: the Smolensk Refinery was also hit, a fire broke out.

?? Electronic warfare units and air defense crews also worked in the border regions: three drones were intercepted in the Kursk Region, and two in the Belgorod Region.

As we have already noted, in recent months the enemy has focused on strikes against Russian oil refining facilities. In the near future, such attacks will only intensify, to provoke a rise in fuel prices, which will also affect the increase in the cost of all goods.

One of the countermeasures to such raids is the effective organization of the protection of facilities, including a network of radar and optical observation posts and mobile groups with anti-aircraft guns and searchlights in the vicinity of refineries and other similar facilities.

At the same time, a symmetrical response should be implemented against the enterprises of the so-called Ukraine, on the territory of which such facilities continue to function. It is also important to note the importance of destroying transport infrastructure - in particular, railway and road bridges.

The enemy are using TikTok to spread fakes about an offensive on Kharkiv and Sumy.

This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.

"The attack on the TV tower in Kharkiv is also about panic, about a digital signal that they will try to replace with their airtime. Similarly, the message about the attack is intimidation. The Sever troop grouping is planned to be increased to 46,000. Equipment - up to 1000 units. This is not enough for an offensive. This grouping will exist for the time being to hold back some of our troops," –– explained Lieutenant Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Political Analysis.

You should entertain that he might.

Any other candidate and Biden is down 5 points or more right now. Trumpers are making the mistake Dems made in 2016... trotting out a candidate with a baked in history that a lot of people dislike and saying "Surely we can beat THAT guy". But the difference is that we are actually living in Biden's America right now. People see the border. They see the cost of essential goods. They see the world in chaos. Rightly or wrongly, your average person puts that on the President.

Theres this Ukrainian soldier called "the Bat of Bakhmut" who dresses up as a bat and only goes out at night and beats up Russians he finds in the streets. He doesn't kill them though, its against his code. Apparently the Russians sent a guy out called "Dzhoker" who dresses like a clown to fight against "The Bat of Bakhmut". Maybe the Bat and the Ghost will do a teamup one day

we need to thank Ukraine for field testing this.

NYT: Project Maven AI having mixed results on Ukraine's battlefields

A massive and experimental artificial intelligence (AI) project developed by the U.S. military has had mixed results on the battlefields of Ukraine, as those behind it struggle to get "21st-century data into 19th-century trenches," the New York Times (NYT) reported on April 23.

Project Maven began in 2017 and is the Pentagon's main effort at adopting the still fledgling field of AI for war, paving the way for algorithms to make decisions instead of soldiers and commanders.

Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine presented the first opportunity to test how the system would work in a conventional ground war between two armies.

A mass of data from countless sources – from satellites to the Instagram feeds of Russian soldiers – has been fed into Project Maven, far more than humans could sort and verify unaided.

"At the end of the day, this became our laboratory," Lieutenant General Christopher T. Donahue, the commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps, told the NYT.

Trump and other Republicans opinions on the war has changed, and that’s how they were able to get this passed.

I think he is trying to tow a line between "unconditional support" and the part of the base that actively doesn't want any more money to go there.... the people who don't want any more money for Ukraine are probably voting Trump no matter what he says about Ukraine.

This and the abortion stance to me screams that the Trump campaign is trying to remove as many reasons for moderates to *not* vote for him as they can.

I agree with all of that and it’s actually refreshing to see his campaign running like this right now.

He’s still gonna support efforts to help build up Ukraine, along with trying to broker some kind of armistice/ceasefire. He’s not gonna have as easy of a time as he thinks with that though. But he’s gonna have no choice but to support Ukraine, for the beginning of his presidency at least.

If whoever the US president is at the time says "offer to give up the eastern provinces and Crimea in a peace deal, or we are turning the aid faucet off" there would be a deal on the table within 24 hours. That deal ends this war in 2022 and maybe 2023. Not sure it does now.

26,000 Cubic Meters of Russian Fuel Lost as SBU Drones Target Two Oil Depots in Smolensk Region

Sources within Ukrainian special services told Kyiv Post that early Wednesday, April 24, two fuel storage facilities in Yartsevo and Razdorovo, located in the Smolensk region of Russia, were hit by drones, allegedly operated by the SBU.

The attacks resulted in the destruction of 26,000 cubic meters of Russian fuel stored at these facilities.

The explosions triggered large-scale fires, prompting the evacuation of personnel from the sites.

"The SBU continues to effectively target the military infrastructure and logistics supporting the Russian army in Ukraine. These facilities are and will remain our legitimate targets," a source stated.

Governor Vasily Anokhin earlier stated that fires occurred at fuel and energy facilities in two districts.

“In all likelihood, an enemy attack caused the fires at civilian fuel and energy facilities in the Smolensky and Yartsevsky districts. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is on-site, managing the situation. I urge everyone to remain calm and avoid panic,” the governor wrote.
