I thought this was pretty funny, apparently UT is the second best baseball program in the country

I said it once and I'll say it again Tennessee and Tennessee fans are some of the most delusional fans in the country. They act like they are the top program in every sport. They are not the second best program in the Country and when they had the best baseball team in the Country they couldn't even make it to Omaha. It is still very possible Holman chooses Tennessee but the reason he goes there is not because it is one of the top 2 programs in the Country. SMH

Kade Woods is his best friend?

I haven't seen anything about him being his best friend but I would expect they are close since they played together and were both on the pitching staff...

Yeah. The post from the Tennessee board said he’s torn because he wants to play with his best friend. I was assuming it was in reference to Kade Woods.

Nothing screams "best pitching development" like every single starting pitcher regressing in their second year in the program.

Dollander
2.39 ERA -> 4.75 ERA
0.79 WHIP -> 1.27 WHIP

Beam
2.72 ERA -> 3.63 ERA
0.93 WHIP -> 1.31 WHIP

Chase Burns
2.91 ERA -> 4.25 ERA
1.12 WHIP -> 1.39 WHIP

For what its worth, I imagine there was a good bit of numbers deviating that direction due to the shitty SEC zone and the new rules being put in place.

That's what I would attribute to Beam.

Dollander's stuff backed up a little bit because his release point changed.

Burns regressed as a starter as teams just sat back and let him emote himself into fatigue.

Yeah I was guessing he was referring to that as well but I take everything that Tennessee fans say with a grain of salt when it comes to their "inside knowledge"

Most shocking aspect, I'm still curious if this is due to fatigue or if he just wasn't sticking to his technique/routine.

Beam and Holman roomed together for Team USA, so it's not like he doesn't know anybody there.

On the Tennessee message board I've seen people reference outside the program influences in relation to him and that having an effect on his performance, but they never went into specifics.

He has the same agent as Chase Burns and Burns didn't seem to like Frank Anderson (who is a really good pitching coach, despite what people may think of him). I'm wondering if the agent made it hard for Dollander to take coaching as well (by getting in his head about Frank).

I remember hearing during the draft that Dollander went so high because MLB pitching coaches think they can change his mechanics back to how they were in 2022. Thought that was interesting

That is a damn shame if the agent was the cause for the regression in Dollander.

To be fair I think the median league ERA went up by almost a full run. Like .70 or something close

This is random and doesn’t impact any of our drafted players or signees, but I’m looking at Spotrac and it shows that Cleveland is 5.61% over their total pool allocation. I did the calculation and even reducing the number of players signed (12) by the “free” throw in of $2,500 the MLB allows these clubs that don’t count against the pool, Cleveland is still beyond 105% their cap.

Are they gonna get their 1st rounder pulled for next year because their 2nd and 7th round picks took them to the woodshed? Seems like some pathetic front office work. They’ve even only signed 1 of their 11-20 round picks.

Looks like Spotrac may have a different bonus than mlb.com is reporting for the 10th rounder for Cleveland. Mlb.com is showing $110,000 as compared to spotrac showing $165,300, that difference puts the Guardians right at 5% over their alloted bonus pool. Only 2 late round high school guys are unsigned and I would imagine they will stay that way with no extra bonus money to spend.

Excuse my ignorance but why did he/they change his release point when he pitched so well last year?

Not a peep of info on Holman or Montgomery, baseball has become stagnant….

Seems like football recruiting is getting hot so we just have to move our efforts that way for now to get our fix brother.
