This is the answer to the next question I had for you.

Yeah it’s ISR. It’s pretty boring. I read lots of books and watch lots of movies. Pretty easy work aside from the length of flights

The planes fly themselves, you really just need the pilots to land it.

Damn, I hate to say it but I think I’ve grown to like Tuscaloosa.

I have my PPL out of KNEW. Originally planned to go to ERAU, but LSU was free. I’m a pax for work now, EXP with AA but I often regret not sticking with it.

When I was younger I dated a girl that flew planes as a hobby and transported medical stuff to make money. Rode in the plane with her from L.A. to Northen a California a few times to pickup or deliver medical items.

Pretty cool views.

You sneaky devils get up there and if the weather is ok put them things on Auto pilot.

Now this is the type of thread the OT needs more of.

First-hand accounts of interesting topics with knowledge, photos & excellent follow-up discourse.

I work for an aircraft OEM. We regularly do long haul flights taking off and landing at the same place.. it’s fun to “test out” a brand new jet with only 5 hours on it, but landing at the same place you took off from 10+ hours earlier is a hard pill to swallow when you think of all the fun places you could have gone

Side note, one of your guys was my sim partner at J-MATS last year. Initials RK. Great dude.

RK is good people. He's probably headed back to Delta early next year. Trying to keep him full-time as long as I can.

Are you a former MXF guy?

I put the Auto-Pilot on at 200ft above the ground, sir.

Nah, very rarely to be honest. If the weather is sketchy I turn it on quickly. And there are a couple of tricky departures that I prefer the autopilot on for to reduce workload. I like to hand fly for at least the first several thousand feet if I can.

Word. I normally fly up to cruise but that’s basically VFRish stuff in bumfrick africa with minimal ATC. I’m actually worried about flying in Europe in the coming weeks because it’s been over five years since I’ve flown a SID or a STAR

For you older pilot baws, is the new crop of incoming pilots better or worse than say 10 years ago?

Better with the new technology but more afraid to make decisions that aren’t spoon fed to them.

Are you a passenger or cargo jet pilot.

Those pics are indeed beautiful.

I figured he’d be heading back soon. Still text him occasionally.
