Thompson turned a corner towards the end of the season. He still made errors but not at the clip he was early in the season and was one of the most clutch hitters on the team.
I would prefer someone else take over the shortstop spot and allow Thompson to play second. I think he would be really good there and I definitely want his bat in the lineup. I love his range and his main issue was throws from short. Maybe making the throws easier makes him better.

If Johnson was thinking along those lines, he would have had Thompson at 2B a good amount of the time in Fall ball. That didn’t happen.
