All depends on what the state of Louisiana produces. If they have a bunch of high rated guys then LSU will be in good shape.

Downvoted by an idiot, meanwhile Simmons has been CB’d to LSU for a while. Watch out for another major D’Ville recruit in 2024 and 2025.

Looks like kind of a weak year in LA.

Watching recruiting for the last 7 years,
Alabama- 5 #1 class
Georgia- Top 3 or better 6 straight
There’s no reason to think 24 will be any different

This is still a much better starting position than usual. We are in better shape to take the best in LA not starting from behind. Also, having a foundational 5 star QB is one way to make sure you have a shot to finish in the top 3. It helps you get other big time offensive players to commit to play with them.

No guarantees, but this class should finish higher than the current one with the strong start we have.

No. It's just because we have the most commits at 8. Look at player avg. which is more important. Bama=95.47
Georgia=95.05
Us=91.52
Same stuff every year.

Meanwhile LSU has the second most players in the NFL…and the most mainstream active players, go figure.

Downvoted post that has logic…let’s not mention the fact that this is a new staff that is firmly focused and structured, where past staffs weren’t…and are developing new elite pipelines in TEXAS, MISSOURI, and, GEORGIA. Brian Kelly and staff have shown they are top level recruiters AND evaluators, as well. The 2024 class has great buzz and will finish very firm among the top.

Just talking about strictly rankings that OP is referring to. I already know about NFLSU.

I've seen lesser ranked lsu recruiting classes beat better teams...having the #1 class doesn't guarantee your team a natty. Lsu just hast to stay in the 1 to 7 range and recruit the trenches and they will be fine

That's really what it is. If you have a top to bottom top 5 roster you are more than good enough to win a natty. Right now we are sitting at #7 but if you look at the averages and total points of the #3-7 teams they are within literal count hairs of one another this year. So in essence, LSU is still sitting at a top 5 class. With multiple top 5 classes you should have a 2 deep good enough to hang with any team in the country, you don't need 5 stars 3 deep to win a championship.

He has been training like a pro since he's like 11 or 12. Hurley's maturity physically and mentally at such a young age are truly remarkable.

To be fair, a good chunk of the higher level recruits are, however Hurley has that strategic distinction. He’s quite mature, incredibly intelligent, and seems to be a true leader. He has already risen in the rankings as well, I anticipate he will receive a five star ranking by this time next season.

Correct.

3rd is the new 1st.

Notre Dame also had a season in which they lost to Stanford and Marshall with a preseason top ten ranking with an inexperienced head coach. LSU should finish out strong with this class and overall season come 2023-24.
LSU lost 4 games and is well on their way to 5. Let’s not act like they had that much better of a season than ND. 3 of those losses LSU got absolutely obliterated.

And then Trouser Trout enlightens us with his positive outlook.

I hope you don't have a wife, and if so, I'll start praying for her daily...
