A regular source of income for me and a buddy was to get on our bikes and search the ditches for coke bottles. Sold them at the foot mart up front, was it Davis Food Mart? Or Fords Food Mart? It was where Dad sent me to buy his cigarettes.
shite i remember riding my bike to the 7-11 in town & country to get my paw-paw some tobacco, rolling paper and liquor.

clerk didn't bat an eye back then. i was happy to do it because he always gave me enough money to buy myself a slurpee too.

In the same class with me and your middle brother all through Lakeshore. I believe they moved to West Monroe when the restaurant closed... Around the time we went out to OJHS

I read it when it came out, thought it was ok. Most interesting part was that it was set in Monroe. If I remember correctly, he wasn't from here, but taught at NLU.

Speaking of books set in Monroe, this memoir is about growing up in north Monroe. Think she graduated from Neville around 76-77. Names are changed but you can figure out most. New York Times gave it a good review when it came out.

You would certainly know my mother and probably my uncle. He passed away in a hunting accident about 15 yrs ago. They lived in Lakeshore during the same time that you said you lived there.

That's pretty cool! I am guessing the author is related to Thomas and that bunch?

I remember Mike, if that's who you are talking about.. I'm so sorry to hear about his accident. For some reason, your mom's name escapes me. Was she older or younger?

She was older than him by 5 years I believe.

I know most of the 77 Neville class that went to LSU. Met most of them in high school. Besides my brother, they were the only people I knew at LSU before I moved to BR. Went to frat rush parties with the guys. Most of them pledged SAE or KA.

Thanks for sharing that. I ordered the book off of Amazon.

Well this was in the 90's and we had cordless phones. My parents didnt want their line tied up all the time with people calling for me or my sister so they got a 2nd line. Standard procedure in those days
