The way LSU fans talk about Will Wade makes it seem like he was the 2nd coming of John Wooden.

It’s fricking insane. He was a very good recruiter, but he was average as hell as an in-game coach.

You don't know that for fact.
You don't know how they are paying.
They are never investigated. When the NCAA is given evidence, they ignore it.

Don’t think Woodward needs to pray for that to happen

Woodward is in good standing as long as football wins. If Brian Kelly craters, that’s when Woodward is in trouble.

I want men’s basketball to do well but ultimately this is is a football school. If football is winning, the AD is on solid ground. When football falls, that’s when the AD is in trouble.

Outside of a major scandal, Woodward will be judged on what Brian Kelly does since that’s his hire on LSU’s main sport.

I don't recall WW being an offensive genius.

He wasn’t, and our defense always had issues, but we were a tournament team with growth potential. After years of awful basketball that was awesome and fun to watch. All we needed was a little luck for a deeper run. You really can’t ask for more than that as a fan, being a yearly tournament team.

In the 25 years before Wade LSU went to 7 NCAA Tournaments. In the five years Wade was here, but for 2020 tournament being cancelled, LSU would have gone to 4…in a row.

John Brady went to 4 in 11 years.
Johnson and Jones went to TWO in their combined 11 years. And Wade didn’t start his LSU career on “third base”. He took over after LSU’s worst SEC performance…EVER.

Wade’s second WORST season at LSU resulted in a 6th seed in the NCAAT. That was the 3rd best seed this century behind a #3 seed in 2019 (the best in 40 years) and a 4 seed in Brady’s anomaly Final Four season (which he reverted back to form with a last place finish in the SEC after beginning the season ranked in the top 10)

Was Wade the best HC in America? No. Was he the best in the last 25 years at LSU? No question!

That was obvious, but it’s really not saying much. Brady, Johnson and Jones aren’t exactly hard to top. Just because He was better than those three does not mean he deserves his godlike status by the posters on this board.

Better than Brady, Johnson and Jones? Yes

Great coach? No

The best coach in school history based on winning percentage was an average coach

I think the excitement comes from the fact he was about to have one of the best recruiting classes in my lifetime coming play basketball for LSU. We had momentum and now the momentum is lost and now we have to build it back an get that program momentum back.

Why? Because he ran off a buffoon to hire a top tier football coach who won the West in yesr one? Because he fired a lazy unmotivated coach to hire a Hall of Fame women's basketball coach, who has our team in the top 5 in year 2. Or maybe because he was able to get a coach who by his own admission wasn't coaching well over the last few years to retire and replaced him with a coach who has assembled what may be our most talented roster ever. Or because by ridding the program of a coach who was caught red handed cheating, he probably saved our basketball AND football team a much harsher fate. Did anyone really expect to compete at a high level when no one who was on the floor last season is still here?
