If it could the bullet would be just over 1/2 way to the balloon. At 60,000 feet that’s almost 12 miles high.

It was estimated to be 60,000 feet altitude. That's over 11 miles up.

And it really doesn't matter if it was a spy balloon or weather balloon or something else. There should be zero tolerance for unauthorized intrusion into U.S. airspace.
