The concept of “life in prison” is absurd. If someone has done something so heinous they require permanent removal from society, then kill then and be done with it.

The core of the problem is that prison in it's current form in the US is an insufficient deterrent. Sentences could often be shorter but the experience in prison should be much, much harder. Inmates work 12 hour days, 7 days a week, picking up trash in chain gangs. Meals should consistent exclusively of oatmeal. No visitation, no electronics, no sports, nothing but work. If you don't want to do the work, you go to solitary confinement and get out when you're ready to.

Agree. Make prison a living hell. Maybe that will deter some of the criminals. I know there will always be the ones who have mentally ill, but I think increasing hard labor is a no doubter.
