Why is everyone in such a hurry for things to be over.
Same thing with golf, let’s hurry and play in 3 hours on a pretty day so we can hurry home and sit on the couch

Maybe its just me but have never gone to a sporting event hoping the thing would hurry up and end. You go because you enjoy the sport. Thats like lets hurry up and finish having sex.

I think in this case it's to keep the action moving to hold interest and not so much to get the game over in a shorter period.

But with football when they say they don't want games to go over X amount of time, that's in the spirit you are talking about. We wait all week long for a football game so what's the hurry once we get there?
