It was more than that. Think of where we were as a country. The aftermath of the Vietnam War, the Carter Years, Iranian Hostages, the Soviets invading Afghanistan. The country was a hot mess.

The Miracle on Ice was one of the greatest sports-related moments of my life (as a spectator). Unbelievable victory at a time when national pride was very low. Almost too good to be true ...
