Which band, in your mind, are the definitive Southern Rock band? Who embodies the sound the most? Is it the Allman Brothers? Skynyrd?

Those are the two titans of the genre, but do you think another band deserves the title? Who has your vote?

It has to be Skynyrd. Allman Brothers have a jam bland bent that makes them less "definitive" as southern rock.

Lynyrd Skynyrd

I tend to think ABB birthed it, but LS defines the genre.

At one point I would say Lynyrd Skynyrd, but recently I came across Katie Noel and although she certainly isn’t as big (yet) of LS she has that special touch where I think she better represents the definitive southern band.

Skynyrd and it ain’t even close.

But the LACS are actually pretty good if you haven’t given them a listen.

Skynyrd by a mile. You can throw in 38 Special and maybe the Doobie Brothers but none compare to LS

Skynyrd when they used Marshall and Hiwatt amps - before their Peavey endorsement. Awful sounding amps, imho.
