The finale was absolutely horrible!
frick Shiv.
Kendall may have eventually blown it but he was the only one of Logan's kids who had any business savvy and skills.
frick Shiv forever!

I would have been fine with Kendall taking over. He transformed into his father, sacrificing everything and everyone in his life to gain power.
But I thought the finale was very in line with the entire show. 3 horrible people who are so desperate for power and their father's approval, that it could never be one of them taking over because the other 2 siblings would sabotage it out of spite

I was satisfied with the conclusion. It didn't blow me away, but it wasn't a let-down that was out of the blue (like GOT), I thought it seemed pretty inline with the entire show.
IMO, people talking about how Shiv changed her mind out of the blue don't get it. Voting against Ken wasn't out of character, all of the siblings temporarily being on the same page was the part that was out of character, and she just reverted to form. They have always been competitive and backstabbing. Earlier in this very season they were supposed to be a triumvirate, but then Kendall and Roman left her out to be CEbrOs. Then they all agreed to do the Pearce deal, but Kendall unilaterally decided he wanted to keep Waystar so he convinced Roman and the two of them worked to kill the deal without telling her. Then Kendall was going off on his own even after that and saying one head one crown, indicating he never intended to share power.
So I think Shiv knew Kendall would screw her. Not saying she is going to be any better off with Mattson and Tom, but she has a lifetime of getting betrayed by Kendall, and she just couldn't stomach him getting to "win" and screwing her again. She may have a chance with them, and even if not, at least she didn't serve it up to her brother on a platter. Plus, it probably was best for her monetarily. They were getting a good premium from GoJo. I have no doubt the company and stock would tank under Ken's leadership.
Tom makes sense as CEO for all the reasons both he and Shiv explained. I loved Tom putting the sticker on Greg.
Great show with an outstanding final season. Very cynical and no redeeming characters, but amazingly watchable. Every time I started to root for one of the siblings they would remind me how horrible they are.
This was my only "appointment" TV show of the last few years. Wondering what the next one will be.

He's 3 years sober and they have been operating on a plan of him taking over as CEO for 18 months then out of the blue his dad rips it out from under him for no real reason and really doesn't even tell him about it just others
He left the negotiation table and ended up with a bad deal that only proved to get worse. Logan saw that and knew he couldn’t be CEO
quote:
Kendall remains ambitious but the core executives really push him into taking over the temporary CEO spot when he really doesn't even want to get into it bc he's worried about his dad. The core executives rightly explain to Kendall how while it's unfortunate, because of market concerns, they basically have to talk about it. The core wants to follow the established plan (at least established until about 5 minutes ago) of Ken being new CEO and going that route. Ken reluctantly takes this notion to his siblings who Flip out on him for being a monster and ambitious during this difficult time and of course they don't want him to be acting CEO anyways
It was made quite clear that the core didn’t want the top job because of the loan (and also likely cruises but that’s brought up later) and didn’t want the blame if things went poorly.
They were setting Kendall up because he’s impetuous

Finally caught up on the final season. I was hoping the kids would keep the company but face the fact that they couldn't run it and put a real CEO in charge while they kept pretending to be big shots and something they are not. I didn't want Madson to get it, that was disappointing.
I loved how the kids ended up. Roman said it best when he said they were bullshite. The whole show was to show spoiled kids who thought the world was theirs only to have the world be cruel and not support them and make them realize they aren't the hot shite they thought they were. They were nobody without their father and his accomplishments were not theirs. That was the whole purpose of the show.
Shiv - She thinks she won only to find out she was screwed and she had to come to terms that she wasn't going to be queen. Then at the end, she couldn't take it not being her, so in her spoiled self, she couldn't see Kendal do it. She falls right back to her old worthless self when she sits with Tom and holds his hand. She realizes she went nowhere and she will never go anywhere and her dreams of being powerful are gone. She is stuck in an unimportant life pretending to be powerful when she's not.
Roman - He thought he could handle it but with disappointment following every step he took, he had to face the reality that he was a joke and he would never be the person he was pretending to be. The funeral was his wake up call where he realized he can't do it. At the end with a little grin, he knows he doesn't have to pretend anymore but then realizes he's a joke and is sad again. He was comfortable being his dad's son and heir to the business but now he must face the fact that it's over.
Kendal - Unlike Roman thinking he could do it, Kendal thought it was his right and he was born to do it. Dad promised him at 7 years old it would be his and he said he was a clog in a machine made only for that. His whole life and his whole meaning is to take over. That is his identity. It's ripped away from him and he has to come to the realization that it's over and he doesn't know what his identity or purpose in life is anymore.

It should have ended with Kendall getting his dads company.
I agree, it would have completed the circle and the chain of generational trauma. Somehow Kendall fricking over all of his siblings to cancel the deal and take over the company would have felt better.

I kinda thought so too up until Shiv's betrayal and how he handled it.
He completely spiraled into a total lunatic and unraveled before everyone's eyes.
Not fit to handle a company of that size.
If he had just said, I accept your decision Shiv, I think you're wrong and I would ask you to give me the chance to prove you wrong... maybe it would have shown growth.
But the episode revealed that all of them are broken people, none of them fit to succeed their father, and their father is the reason why they are unfit

I know I'm late, but I just finished the finale and what a total shitshow. I don't think I've been that pissed off by a finale since GoT.
The first half of the finale was great. Seemed like the selfish, backstabbing siblings were gonna FINALLY all come together and actually do something good. Save the company together from the Swede pos and Tom's bitchass. Kendall was finally happy for the first time and I thought they had all turned this corner.
Shiv is a royal countbag.
Tom is a cuck.
That show was great for three seasons, but the last season was terrible. It was hard to continue after Logan died.
Just really can't believe that's how that ended. What a sick joke.

That's all this show was and you expected a different outcome in the end?

Tom is as Shiv said willing to suck the biggest cock in the room. I know 20 guys like this in the corporate world. Will do anything people want them to if they can get ahead. I wouldn’t say it makes him a “cuck”. He’s just a scumbag.
As far as your anger at the finale, I can’t disagree more. It was perfect. These are broken people.
What do you want? CEO bros in charge?
