I was satisfied with the conclusion. It didn't blow me away, but it wasn't a let-down that was out of the blue (like GOT), I thought it seemed pretty inline with the entire show.
IMO, people talking about how Shiv changed her mind out of the blue don't get it. Voting against Ken wasn't out of character, all of the siblings temporarily being on the same page was the part that was out of character, and she just reverted to form. They have always been competitive and backstabbing. Earlier in this very season they were supposed to be a triumvirate, but then Kendall and Roman left her out to be CEbrOs. Then they all agreed to do the Pearce deal, but Kendall unilaterally decided he wanted to keep Waystar so he convinced Roman and the two of them worked to kill the deal without telling her. Then Kendall was going off on his own even after that and saying one head one crown, indicating he never intended to share power.
So I think Shiv knew Kendall would screw her. Not saying she is going to be any better off with Mattson and Tom, but she has a lifetime of getting betrayed by Kendall, and she just couldn't stomach him getting to "win" and screwing her again. She may have a chance with them, and even if not, at least she didn't serve it up to her brother on a platter. Plus, it probably was best for her monetarily. They were getting a good premium from GoJo. I have no doubt the company and stock would tank under Ken's leadership.
Tom makes sense as CEO for all the reasons both he and Shiv explained. I loved Tom putting the sticker on Greg.
Great show with an outstanding final season. Very cynical and no redeeming characters, but amazingly watchable. Every time I started to root for one of the siblings they would remind me how horrible they are.
This was my only "appointment" TV show of the last few years. Wondering what the next one will be.
