I would consider this a slap in the face if I were Lamar. They can give an often injured WR 18M but not enough for me an MVP QB?

This tells me they don’t plan on him being on the roster, cause they got to know Lamar will see this as an insult.

Only good thing is it's for one year, but this is still a very MORONIC deal.

From the Raven’s perspective, eh. It’s less than they’d pay a WR on a franchise tag. And if they do somehow have Lamar on the roster next season, at least they can say they tried to get him help.

Don’t understand it at all from OBJ’s perspective though. Dude must enjoy being a malcontent because that’s all that will happen.

He's basically getting almost double the market.

That's obviously why.

I'm guessing no team wanted to commit to a longer-term deal due to injury concerns, and the Ravens one year deal offered much more than anyone else was willing to pay. From his perspective, this was strictly about cash.

If he proves he still has tread on the tire, he can get a 2-3 yr deal next year or go ring chase.

eta this also reminded me how insane WR pay has gotten. Odell's $15 million makes him the #23 highest-paid WR in the league.

He doesn't even know if Lamar will be the QB this season and still took the deal. I don't expect the Ravens to be competing for a SB this year. I don't blame him though. He won a SB already, so he may as well grab the cash now. 18 Mill a year for a 30+ year old WR with an injury history is a steal for OBJ.

Except he isn't. He is Number 3 at best behind Andrews and Bateman

Ian Rapaport posted a tweet saying of the 18 million in his contract, 15 million is guaranteed. Surprised the Ravens would do this.

One year vs five years, and MVP Lamar is gone and will never be seen again. He will never have a season like 2019 again, and he needs to be that good every single season to justify the contract he wants.

This will likely blow up in Baltimore's face, but it won't hurt them long term like giving Jackson $250M guaranteed would.

I'm not sure that's a good thing. Can he beat #1 corners at this point in his career? In LA he had Kupp taking on double teams.

Can't blame him for taking the money. Christian Kirk got roasted last year for getting 20M a year but he actually produced like a #1.

Lamar Jackson needs to fire his agent and hire OBJ’s agent.
