Today my wife got a letter in the mail from Receivable Recovery Systems LLC located in Metairie.

The debt we’ve been sent to collections over is for a whopping $10.50. The letter claims we paid $1,119.50 toward a hospital bill from Singing River Health Systems, but the total bill was for $1,130 so we still owe $10.50.

Neither me or my wife remember receiving any medical bills in the mail especially for that small amount of money.

I don’t want my credit to be screwed over $10.50. Has anyone had success disputing one of these before?

They are being bought out by Our Lady of the Lake. So perhaps the nuns will forgive you.

Medical debt under $100 is ignored on your credit report.

They passed something recently saying medical collections under $500 won’t be included on credit reports anymore. You can respond if you want (google collections dispute letter for samples), but I would throw it away.

Did your wife actually receive medical care, or do you not know where this charge came from?

Does she have health insurance, and if so were these covered medical expenses? If uninsured, was she provided a GFE?

If it’s worth $10.50 to never have to think about this piddly stuff again, pay it and be done.

we just got a letter stating we underpaid by $9.50

i asked the lady at hospital if it was a bill because it didnt say it was a bill or how to pay it.

she stated that no, no one sends bills for amounts under $25, because its not worth the trouble to process them.

she said they just write stuff like that off and you dont have to pay it.

It takes a while for medical debt to show up and anyway as of this month Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian are not going to show medical debt under $500 on credit reports. However, idk if that applies to medical debt bought by a collection agency.

If you want to pay it, contact the provider directly. Don’t pay the collection agency.

Offer them $1.50 if they will simply NOT report it at all to any Credit Reporting Agency. They only pay about 3% of the debt amount to buy the account anyway.

If you owe 10.50 then pay them. I would personally send it to them in mixed change but that’s me. But don’t pay 1 cent more.

I’d write back saying that you have been worried about being punished because of your good credit history and thank them for helping you for not having to pay more for your mortgage.

As someone with legal advice, don’t wipe your arse with that paper, it’ll leave you chaffed. Other than that don’t reply, recognize, or ever seem like you got a it.
Also, lower your credit score, it may help you out in the long run with this dementia communist running the country.
