Who would you throw for 1st game of SEC tournament?

If the season were to end today, LSU’s first game would be on next Wednesday.
I know many don’t give AF about the tournament but depending on what happens in Athens, and maybe regardless of Athens, we may need to win a couple for seeding.
I’d prefer to get Skenes back closer to his regular 7 day, Friday schedule. Or is it better to throw him early and have a longer rest leading up to Regionals?
I think I would go Johnny Wholestaff, followed by Skenes in game two, Floyd game three, and then JW…

Anyone not named Skenes or Floyd.
Personally, I'd probably go with Money. I think that may be why they decided to stretch him out against McNeese. Still would like to see Herring get a little more stretched out and see if he can give you 3-5 innings. Getting a little late in the game for that though.

If we win the series this weekend that’s what you will see.

Assuming we lock up a top 8 by winning the UGA series, the SECT is basically meaningless.
Id pitch Skenes (Thu) and Floyd (Fri- if nec.) on strict 90 pitch counts.
In no situation should we bump Skenes up to start game 1 in Hoover on short rest.

If they play Wednesday Skenes will be in the same rest that he will be for this Thursday game this weekend.
Then he will get extra rest going into the regional. Why not throw Skenes Wednesday?

Why shorten his rest one day 2 weeks in a row. I could maybe see doing that if they get beat this weekend and have to win a SEC game to get a national seed. Most of the time conference tournaments do not play a huge role in committee national seed decisions.

Hell if our bullpen wasnt such a mess and it wasnt a must win series I'd prefer to throw Skenes Friday (game 2) vs UGA.

To me the possibility of 10 days of rest going into the tournament is a bigger deal than two weeks straight on 5 days rest. He has pitched a few times this year on 5 days rest already.

Some guys would rather not have that many days off. They will make the best decision. Probably not a right or wrong answer.

I'd rather take our chances with Floyd or JW on Wednesday against a lower seeded team and then have Skenes throw Thursday against a top 4 seeded team (assuming we win Wednesday). Win Wednesday and Thursday and you jump straight to Saturday...

You right and I’m sure they will have the discussion with Skenes before making the decision.
One thing I do know. If you are too 4 you will only be guaranteed 2 games and I would want Skenes and Floyd throwing those two games because I don’t want either taking a full week off. So it’s either throw Skenes 5 days rest or Floyd on 4 days rest.

Go for a series W in Athens this weekend making the SECT a non-factor.
Start Money on Wednesday. Then Skenes, Floyd, and Coleman the following games on pitch counts.
Use the tourney to figure out who you can rely on come first weekend in June.

Same strategy as last night. Money starts then Herring. Hopefully they can get you 6 to 7 innings. It would also be an audition to do the same vs the 4 seed in a regional. You're guaranteed 2 games so throw Skenes game 2.
Skenes would then get rest until the next Saturday for Regionals. Same method for Floyd for a Game 3 in the SEC Tourney and Regionals.

No way in hell am I moving skenes schedule up early.
If we win the UGA series then whoever honestly. Money, Cooper, guidry, Little, Hurd, Coleman or Herring. Whoever has the smallest workload on their arm.
If we lose the series to UGA and need a couple of games then gotta go to Herring or Guidry first, assuming Coleman starts on Sunday va UGA.

Couldn't we do that to fight the inevitable tactic of them moving their one to Sat?

Skenes will pitch Thursday in Athens. I don't know his recovery schedule, but if he is 100% after 5 days rest, then pitch him Wednesday. That gives him even more rest before the regional. If he isn't 100% rested, then pitch him Thursday. If he is showing any signs of late season fatigue, then don't pitch him at all. Only the staff knows these answers though.

Things I wouldn't do?
Throw Skenes or Floyd on short rest
Let Money go, let Coleman go, heck I'll warm up.
The SEC tournament means nothing for LSU this year.

We get a bye. And it starts Wednesday. We are not throwing Skenes or Floyd.
