I had a bi-monthly subscription DSC. When I first started it, they were just like the Gillette Mach series, but way cheaper. Now it's a completely different design of razor that sucks arse. I cancelled my subscription, and I'm looking for what the OT uses?

For your troubles

The consensus answer to every single one of these threads is

Double Edged Safety Razor and variety pack of blades to figure out which one works best for you.

Long handle Merkur and Astra blades for me. Feather blades tear my face up. Though I opened a pack of Dorco blades recently, and I think those work better for me than the Astra.

Glad I am not alone.

I had been using them for almost 10 years. It was such a great and easy convenience. Out of nowhere they changes the blades suck arse.

I switched to a recurring shipment on Amazon of Gillette Pro Glide.

Currently I use a Feather DE safety razor I was given as a gift. The prep to shave is a bit longer than with a cartridge razor, as is the shaving process since you have to take your time to get a good shave. However, it is a SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable shave than with a cartridge razor. The multi-blade razors "pull" your hair while you are shaving. And more blades = more discomfort. They will still give you a close shave. But you don't realize how much they pull until you use a DE blade.

When I did use cartridge blades I used the Schick Hydro 3. Actually, to save costs I used the generic Hydro 3 blades you could buy for cheaper at Walmart, Target. Same exact blade as the Schick brand name. Just $4-$7 cheaper per box. They also were made to fit a Mach 3 handle. The best thing about the Schick Hydro blades is they were very well lubricated. So much so that the first few shaves with a new cartridge were kind of "goopy". Still, of all the cartridge blades I used it was the most comfortable with the closest shave. If I ever had to go back to a cartridge blade that would be it.

In NO circumstances would I ever use a five blade razor. That is NOTHING but marketing overkill, and they provide a terribly uncomfortable shave. 3 blades are really too many as well. But at least they aren't five blades. I tried Harry's once and found them to be the most uncomfortable razor I've every used in my entire life. After 4 shaves I was done!

So DSC is no longer using Dorco razor blades?

I started ordering Dorco blades from Amazon when I found out that is what DSC used.

Merkur DE razor. Buy a sampler pack of blades for about $15-20 and try them out. That should take you the better part of a year and decide which ones you like. You can probably get 50 blades of your choice for $20 (maybe cheaper) and you're set. I promise you'll get a better shave. PROMISE!

I haven't shaved since high school because I'm a man that can actually grow facial hair.

The cheapest disposable 2 blades I can find. Can usually find a pack of 10 for around $5
