Has any of the news stations given any coverage to these wildfires?

KPLC is the only station in SWLA covering it and they are doing a good job. Lafayette channels haven’t done anything. I’m sure the Alexandria stations are going a good job of covering the event

Here’s a dumb question? What does fire do to a road? Are we talking easy reoverlay or are talking rip up and do it all over? Truly have no clue.

I was surprised that KATC didn’t say much if anything.

Shouldn't really do much of anything. Roads are significant because they're natural firebreaks. If it jumps a road, you've got trouble.

You can see the storms and the fires in this satellite loop. You can tell they really kicked up as the storms passed through the area. The fire over in Texas that got some resources pulled from this fire is visible, too.

KLFY had a story at 5, 6, and 10 since Scott FD has a crew out there, but I wouldn't expect a station that covers Acadiana to do much more coverage of it than that.

Hopefully 190 stops that fire. If it jumps around Junction, that's another 60k+ acres of timber for it to run through.

It’s amazing how stations like Lafayette and Houston don’t even mention this. It’s a big thing just because it’s not in your area doesn’t mean it’s not relevant.

Tons of people in both of these areas have family and friends in West Louisiana.

Yep

Merryville Police Department

Update:

Fire has not made it to any structures within merryville city limits as of yet. Winds changed direction so that helped some. Just pray fire can come in and safely contain it without any homes or structures being harmed. I know this has been trying time for all the town people, know that we are Merryville Strong ?? we as a town will make it through this as a family. I will (Cindy) be here until the end and hopefully at the end able to greet everyone back to their homes. Please be safe.

And literally my comment just above yours said KLFY had a story about it.

What difference does it make if Lafayette covers it? Houston, yeah, there's probably several hundreds thousands more there that aren't aware of this going on. But I bet most people in the Lafayette area are already aware of what's going on over there. Hell, all of Carencro and north into St. Landry and Evangeline had a haze hanging over the area from smoke from the Tiger Island Fire.

If anything, I would like to see someone nationally pick it up, but that's unlikely since it's in an area that is sparsely populated and hasn't been a large burn compared to what normally gets coverage out west.
